yelped

Does the 30% off stack with the 2 for 1 tickets that Virgin Atlantic offers?

mo

whats the 2 for 1

Danfan

How do these companion seats work? I book a cash ticket then add the companion for points only without fuel charges? or do I have it all wrong

Danfan

I don’t get it. How does the companion work?

CB

you have to call to book. Also full YQ on 2nd fare
https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=14730.40

Danfan

So what is the idea? it’s the regular price, I can just book 2 award ticket’s. What am I missing here?

CB

You pay zero points on the companion fare (only the YQ)

Danfan

I guess the account holder has to be the traveler, Correct?

OD

dont the fuel surcharges kill this deal?

Yochai

That’s why Dan kindly specified each route.
Make your own decision of what you consider a deal.

SA

Yes, unless compared to Delta. They essentially make the miles used as a supplement to the discounted airfare paid in the form of the surcharges.

bon

the fees are a killer

CB

Ex tlv fuel surcharge is good but very few date avail to NY

Vin

delta skypesos lol!

Joe S

Does anyone know the current rules for an American tourist if leaving the airport at LHR. Any negative Covid test needed?

Ari

is the point of this post to show how great VA is or how bad Delta is?

Going jfk to London

Can I transfer amex/chase/cap one
Into citi points to take advantage of this deal?
If not I should just transfer to virgin to get 30% off?

Jared

@Dan, theoretically is the only way to keep the taxes/surcharges down below $300 on TLV-LON-JFK to have… 24 hours… between LON arrival and ensuing LON departure? I’d hope to book one itinerary TLV-LON||England for a few days||LON-JFK, but I take it that will kill the deal and count as two one ways re: taxes/surcharges? As in, if it’s one award with a stopover (if that’s even possible with Virgin), I’m still paying the taxes/surcharges from two one ways?

helo

i have done the companion several times,
they charged me for the companion only half the points that I paid for mine, I have done it many times , and also, told several people to do it and they all thanked me, the taxes and charges were the same for each of the tickets including the companion,
thank you Dan for your info helping all

CB

Booked 2 fares Tlv-lhr-jfk prem/upper, have to call them to issue combined fare. But I used 36k VS pts that were languishing + 40K citi pts that with promo gave me 12k bonus

helo

i recommend you to cancel it, call them and ask them tat the second ticket should be less points as a companion

CB

I asked abt companion fare, they are NOT pricing at promo rate so I would have paid 63.6K on one fare and 31.3k on 2nd = 95k – 7k more than I paid. No tnx.

helo

i think it really depends to whom you talk there , some are familiar and some not

helo

you don’t tell them two people,,, you tell them one person, plus companion for half price on the points, you need to be a frequent flyer member,

CB

this is correct price, but they are only pricing the “companion” fare. I had a very intelligent rep on 2nd try and they said this much.
It took a while to get it out but first fare Must be paid in full ie. if you pay promo rate they cannot sell you the companion fare.

CB

I meant its correct price for 1 ie. the ‘companion’ fare which I think they understood your referencing – 50% of full price. I’m assuming the full price is 48K for this fare which is how they get to 24k
If you want to price both you have to be really clear but by my calc current promo is better than this option.

CB

okey anyway aside from ex. TLV the YQ is ridiculous

CB

Im not new to this, they were very familiar and priced it out both ways. unfortunately promos DO NOT apply to companion fare so you will have to pay full published fare and get 50% off that.

eli

if my friend has a citi premier can they transfer thank you points directly into my va account or does it have to be in their name?

Adam

I got a one way LAX – AMS for 17.5K and one way from LHR-LAX for 10.5K. Incredible deal was only made better when I used Citi points with that lovely 30% bonus! The fees are annoying, but the mileage price is absurdly cheap! DAN IS THE MAN!!

mom

just book 3 tickets LHR to NYC for an adult , young adult , and child for 21,000 points which a little less than 17,000 citi points and GBP 482.12 =585.75. Seems that there is less taxes for the children. Thank you

es

Just created my virgin account today, want to book flights but getting an error, called and they said have to wait 3 days for account to verify. Anything to do about this? already transffered in points and also only 4 seats left

Danfan

1. You ask to talk to a manager, you tell them you are flying today, and they make it work for you, if not, HUCA. in any case it shouldn’t take 3 days, chances are account has synced already

Jeff G.

Nothing available from any DC-area airport in the 5/17-5/31 time frame.

virgin virgin

Is it possible to transfer Cito to Virgin to book domestic on Delta? The flights I want are 13k RT on DL but not bookable from Virgin website. Will calling help? Trying to book a bunch of tix chi-nyc, 9100 points seems like a decent value.

jack

whats virgins cancellation policy??

Newbie

Virgin Atlantic didn’t allow me to finish my booking (I had it on award hold) due to a medical issue. They only sent me confirmation to fly and book this morning. When I called they said the sale is over since yesterday so they want to charge me 30% more than initially told. Is there anything for me to do?

Joe

Anybody have an inkling as to when/what day/how often Delta opens up award seats to Virgin? Looking to book TLV to NY in August and there is no Delta availability showing up on VA (aside for indirect flights on BA for 32K plus $230). Similar question re: ELAL/Qantas, but don’t have any real hopes for that. Thank you.
