Last year, Qantas started flying nonstop between JFK and Auckland, while they wait for a plane that will be able to fly nonstop between JFK and Melbourne.

Air New Zealand also started flying the route last year.

Business class award availability on the route has been pretty much non-existent, but during November there are at least 2 Qantas business class seats available on the 787-9 Dreamliner for the following dates, as flagged by Thrifty Traveler Premium.

JFK to Auckland:
November 3, 4, 7, 10, 11, 14, 17, 20, 21, 24, 27

Auckland to JFK:
November 4, 6, 7, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21

This is only bookable direct with Qantas for 126.5K miles plus about $200 each way. Partners are unable to book this award space.

Qantas charges 5K miles to make a change or 6K miles to cancel a mileage ticket.
