Capital One Lounge and Capital One Landing Access:
Capital One launched its first airport lounge in Dallas/DFW in terminal D near gate 22. The lounge is open from 7am-7pm.

Capital One doesn’t have regular product change options like most banks, but you may be able to change between the no annual fee Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, the $95/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the $395/year Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, but you won’t get a signup bonus for upgrading from VentureOne or Venture to Venture X.
Even if you aren’t eligible for a product change, you can always close a card for at least a month after an annual fee is billed, to get a refund of the fee.
Use points for paid travel reimbursement:
You can redeem your points to pay yourself back for any travel related expenses (airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, ride sharing, etc) or book new travel at a value of 1 cent per point.
Airline and hotel transfer partners and transfers to other cards:
You can transfer points from Capital One into these programs at the following ratios:

- Avianca LifeMiles (1:1, Star Alliance)
- British Airways Avios (1:1, OneWorld)
- Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (1:1, OneWorld)
- EVA (2:1.5, Star Alliance)
- Etihad (1:1, No alliance)
- Emirates (1:1, No alliance)
- Finnair (1:1, OneWorld)

- Choice Hotels (1:1)
- Wyndham Hotels (1:1)
You can also combine miles between Capital One miles cards online, transfer cash back into miles online, and you can transfer miles to any Capital One cardholder by calling Capital One!
A nice perk is that after the 1,000 mile minimum transfer, you only need to transfer points in increments of 100, meaning you have fewer leftover points compared to other bank transfers.
- Air Canada awards start at just 6K miles on United.
- Avianca Lifemiles awards start at just 6.5K miles on United. Or save up for the 194K miles you’ll need for a round-trip first class flight in First Class from the US to Tel Aviv on Lufthansa with access to their amazing first class terminal during your connection with a Porsche transfer to your plane.
- Turkish Airlines has an incredibly generous award chart, with bargains on United like domestic awards, including Hawaii, costing just 7.5K miles in coach or 12.5K miles in business class! Tickets to Israel cost just 32K miles in coach or 47K miles in business class!
- 7.5K Virgin Atlantic miles is enough for a Delta short-haul flight and 35K is enough to fly nonstop on Delta between North America and Israel.

- With 180K Qantas points you can fly round-trip in El Al business class between NYC and Tel Aviv with no fuel surcharges.
- With 135K Emirates miles you can fly round-trip in A380 Shower Class from JFK to Milan.
- With 217.5K Emirates miles you can fly round-trip in A380 Shower Class from JFK to Dubai.
Dan’s Quick Thoughts:
This card seems like a no-brainer thanks to the annual credits that more than cover the annual fee.
Assuming you take advantage of those annual credit, there is essentially no cost for all of the card’s valuable benefits, like Capital One lounge access, Priority Pass lounge access, Hertz elite status, high end protections, and more. Plus, all of those benefits apply to free additional user cards and there’s no age limit for Capital One additional user cards.
With the ability to reimburse yourself for any travel purchase and the option to transfer points to airlines like Turkish, where you can fly anywhere in the US50 for just 7.5K miles in coach or 12.5K miles in first class, spending on the card is valuable and doesn’t require jumping through hoops with multiple cards as with other banks.
The 75,000 point bonus is just gravy on top of those benefits!

Can I apply if I have an active one already? If not can I close it and apply?
I’m in the same boat, anyone?
Do you know if the Cultivist Museum Membership is free also for additional authorized users?
I’d assume that will work. Capital One AUs have different card numbers.
Makes sense, tks
Just tried. It worked
What’s new with the card now?
Updated post with the current benefits.
Great post. Thank you!
Regarding the Culitivist – seems as though the Musee D’orsey and the Louvre have been taken off the list.
I don’t think the lists are exhaustive. Have you tried asking for tickets?
According to the app, “Please note, this is not currently a Cultivist partner. While we are happy to help arrange your tickets, you will be charged for the cost of your tickets.”
Not only the Cultivist removed quite a few museums, they added many restrictions to the other ones. For example, I tried using it in Venice where 5 museums are listed as free. They were previously giving 4 tickets each ( member plus 3 family members)Now they are down to two 9 member plus one) The worst part is having to register for a specific time slot.It really made the benefit unusable to me.Still a great card, though:)
I have the card, and I think price match is one of the best benefits, but they just changed it to travel (on their portal) credit instead of refund
Still very useful!
is the 300 dollar credit for airlines etc. after the first year, or right away?
Right away!
NICE! anyway to trigger it without flying? like gift cards etc.. also anyway to use it for car rental and use corporate discount etc?
Seems like they still haven’t caught on to cancelling hotel stays after the credit posts.
Thanks!
Cultivist museum benefit has been dramatically reduced. In Europe, there’s basically nothing outside of Berlin, Venice, and London. No more Musee D’Orsay. Only 6 museums left in NYC.
Have you asked for tickets to those museums and been denied?
I got tix to D’Orsay while they were still on the published list. I asked for the tix, and they responded they weren’t eligible anymore so I responded they were still on the published list and they gave them to me for free.
They initially wanted me to pay for them, so I would assume anything not on the list you have to pay.
I am looking for lounge access for 2 adults and 2 kids.. Is this better or upgrade from Chase Mariott Bonvoy to Ritz card ?
Is the waldorf in jerusalem included in the premier collection? Is there a list of hotels included? any others in israel?
Seems like Mamilla is the only current Premier offering in Israel.
Freezing a price for 14 days seems like it changed to 2 days
Is it true that you can’t have more than 2 Cap1 cards?
No. I have 2 quicksilvers and venture x. I think you’re thinking of Discover
Does the pay yourself back on travel work for AirBnb??
Sure!
“Similar to AMEX, this membership no longer includes access to retail airport offers with a per person credit.”
How about for Be Relax Spas?
Excluded.
Any museums in Israel part of the benefit?
Just signed up and approved. Was afraid my recent mortgage would have knocked my credit too low but I think it hasn’t hit my report just yet. Thanks for all the amazing info as always.
Congrats!
One random thing I noticed when looking at their benefits leaflet is that Israel is one of only 3 countries excluded from their primary rental car coverage. Good to know if you plan to rent a car there with this card.
I’m not saying its ethical…but the musuems do not care about checking your Cultivist membership card. I was able to keep going even after my membership lapsed. Don’t think I was ever asked for it.
Dan, how can i book with turkish to fly anywhere in the US50 for 7.5k. do i book it with turkish directly? is there any post that you have written up on this?
Many, such as https://www.dansdeals.com/points-travel/milespoints/wide-open-united-award-space-turkish-airlines-dirt-cheap-star-alliance-awards-valuable-ever/
What do you mean by “get a refund on airfare for any reason”? How does this work? Surely I cant get a refund on a no refundable basic econ ticket?
“the ability to pay a nominal fee to freeze airfare prices or get a refund on airfare for any reason.”
I don’t like the price freeze option, because if the price hikes to more than they are ready to pay, they just refund you, and you are screwed….
@dan
do additional cardholders get refunded for global entry?
No
If I have four additional cardholders then I don’t pay the annual fee?
If I already have one that I signed up for last year, can I apply for a second one and get approved?
Officially there is no limit to how many bonuses you can earn, but capital one can be very stingy, and lot’s of reports online claim that you can’t have more than 2 capital one cards all together
Do you think it’s worth a try? Also I recently got 5/24ed by chase
I would suppose trying for the venture would be a better move, also 75k SUB, but only if the VentureX is your only card, if you already have 2 cap1 cards then maybe try your luck at amex or citi
The Louvre is not included with Cultivist. Many museums have been removed.
@Dan,
I opened a Capital One Spark 2Miles/$1 for Business as per your featured cards, (I also needed it for some reason) after getting approved (whiten 5min) I applied for this card and got denied with this msg >”Based on your Pre-Approval form information, there is a currently pending or recently processed application with Capital One”..
What’s their policy, how many acct’s can I open at once?? What can you advise me to do?
Official policy is up to 2 in 30 days, unofficial policy is 1 in 6 months
Thanks for answering,
Where can I find that official policy so I can ask for a reconsideration?
Anywhere in DDforms they talk about it?
I got approved today for this card with a 20k limit. Its been 10 years since Ive had a Capital One card, and I got a message saying I need to verify with a drivers license/state ID before activating the card. Is there any workaround to not submitting a drivers license/state id? Amex and Chase never requested such a thing
I once got a representative to verify a capital one account for me on the phone by telling them that I do not have internet access or a smartphone or a tablet, but it may only be because I already have another capital one account verified and linked to the phone number I was calling from
It’s a great card, got it last time they had a big signup bonus.
Just a heads up: Their insurance company is very difficult to deal with. Way more difficult to deal with than Amex. I recently applied for the return protection coverage, and they made me go back and forth a half dozen times and call them back twice before finally approving it.
Applied and got approved
Thanks
I have the Amex platinum and the Chase Sapphire reserve (in addition to some others). Is it still worth it? Or should I shut down another card to get this one? 🙂
Make your calculations on each card separately, if you don’t cash out on the platinum or the reserve enough to make it worth it, you should close/downgrade even if you do not apply for this card, and if you do squeeze out all it’s worth, why not keep them all…
Is it hard to get approved for this card?
What’s with the recon? If I apply and got denied are they going to take another pull to recon it?
Dan,
In your opinion, are any of the United CC’s/offers comparable to this one?
I already have Priority Pass membership through Chase Reserve. If I were to sign up for this card, will I get a separate Priority Pass membership? I know I can bring 2-guests with me using Reserve PP, but will I be allowed to bring 2-additional guests if I also have this card, for a total of 4-guests?
Just got rejected. Anyone have a phone number for recon?
Can someone with past experience pls let me know what they want to hear.
Thanks
1-800-625-7866
Capital one is a quite bureaucratic, and if your application doesn’t full in line with their official or unofficial rules they won’t let you get approved, and they won’t even give you a clear reason. but try your luck. I think they just want to hear the regular.
On the lounge page you wrote it gets priority pass “Primary and secondary cards: Free access with unlimited guests.” Here it says 2 guests, which one is right? Any card gives admission to me and 3 kids under 18? Thank YOU!!!!
@Dan Will they be posting August/September baseball games with premium seats for 5000 points, or has everything been posted already?
If I closed this card in the last few months, how long should I wait before applying again to get the bonus? Is it 6 months or 1 year?
How can I become part of Hertz President’s Circle once I have the card?
Go to rewards in your CapOne acc. Go to benefits, find the Hertz Presidents Circle option
Anyone know if this card is “instant use” following approval? I.e., can I start using it right away without waiting to receive the physical card? (I don’t currently have any accounts w/ Capital One.)
how do i sign up for tsa and global entry with this card? do i need to do it thru capital one or i should just charge my card and ill ger a refund?
Charge & get refund
I have one already. Can I get a second?
Does this card offer free overseas transactions?
“There are no foreign transaction fees.”
If i want to downgrade to something that doesnt have an annual fee, what the best one?
Shipt link is only showing one month free, am I missing something?
Does anyone have recent experience of how much credit line there giving? a year ago they were giving 30K
What is the minimum income that will get me approved for this card. And does it make a difference if I am self employed?
Thanx
My wife and I have a Capital One union branded credit card. Would we be able to transfer over our balance from that card to this Venture X card and close the older card? What would the be the advantages or disadvantages? Thanks in advance for your advice and help.
If i have the venture can i still get the bonus for the venture x?
Yes
Can I apply for the venture x and get all the benefits including the sign of bonus if I’m an authorized user on another account
Yes
@dan, I hear that venture x is removing hertz PC starting 2025, do you know if they are removing car rental completely, or are they moving to a different car rental company. like what United did when they moved to Avis?
Doesn’t this card include primary and secondary free access with unlimited guests to priority pass?
I just downgraded from the Venture X to the Venture card after the annual fee was billed and they refunded me the $395 annual fee.
How long after the annual fee was billed?
the bonus hit your account?
Does the 5/24 rule apply to this card?
5/24 is a chase policy
does capital one overnight the credit card?
Will send in 3 days
Can the $300 travel credit be used for EZ Pass?
Dan, have you personally used the travel portal (Hopper) and what’s your thought on it? I read some mixed reviews and I’d really like to hear it from the travel guru 🙂
TIA!
I do not find the possibility to book Elal flights using Capital one points
With Capital One points you can book any paid ticket and use points to pay yourself back.
@Dan you will get refunded for downgrading after af post for second year
What are your thoughts on the venture X vs Amex Plat?
“These include highly rated Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in JFK, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington DC”
When I go on plaza premium website I can’t find any lounges in the US besides for mco and dfw. How can I check if a specific airport has a lounge with access through plaza premium?
Unfortunately, the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse in Newark closed (leaving sadly few Newark options)
FYI got the card and they ended the Cultivist museum 6 month trial offer without any notification. This is no longer a benefit. Customer service would not do anything to help. Bait and switch benefit.
The Lounge Access is horrible, every time I have a layover in Dallas its at least 45-1HR wait and its usually longer even when I eheck in ahead on the App.
@Dan what’s your guess?, Do you expect this offer to be increased or decreased or just stay like this for a long while?
Thank you
It’s there a minimum credit score you need to get this card?
