Earn 75,000 Points, Lounge Access, And Much More From Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card!

Signup bonus:

Capital One’s ultra-premium card, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is offering 75,000 Capital One miles for opening the card and spending $4,000 in 3 months.

Annual fee:

There is a $395 annual fee for the primary card.

There is no annual fee for up to 4 additional cardholders and they can each take advantage of benefits like free lounge membership, elite status, and more.

There is no minimum age limit for additional cardholders and you don’t need to provide a SSN for additional cardholders.

Annual travel credit:

Receive a $300 annual travel credit every cardmembership year for all travel booked through the Capital One Travel portal, where you can book flights, hotels, and car rentals. Those credits can be applied multiple times until you spend $300.

If you maximize this credit, this card’s effective annual fee is just $95.

Anniversary bonus:

Cardholders will get an anniversary bonus of 10,000 miles every year that they have the card. Those miles are worth $100 towards travel or gift cards, but they can also be transferred into 10K airline miles where they can be much more valuable. At a value of 1.5 cents per airline mile, that’s like another $150 back every card anniversary.

Between the $300 annual travel credit and the 10,000 mile anniversary bonus, the annual rewards can be worth more than the card’s annual fee!

Global Entry/Pre-Check Fee Refund:

It costs $85 to apply for a 5 year TSA Pre-Check membership which makes flying pleasant again. Shorter lines, no need to remove your shoes, belt, jacket, or hat. You can keep your laptop and small liquids inside your carry-on. And you go through a good old fashioned metal detector instead of assuming the position in the body scanner.  If you charge it on your card the fee will be refunded.

It costs $100 to apply for a 5 year Global Entry membership which lets you bypass the customs line. If you have Global Entry you also get TSA Pre-Check for free.

If you charge it on your card the fee will be refunded. You can get refunded for this charge once every 4 years.

You can read more more about the differences in this post.

My whole family has Global Entry and it sure makes traveling a whole lot easier!

Capital One Lounge and Capital One Landing Access:

Capital One launched its first airport lounge in Dallas/DFW in terminal D near gate 22. The lounge is open from 7am-7pm.

I loved being able to shower, use the prayer room, and enjoy free snacks while connecting in DFW.

New lounges will be added soon in Denver/DEN and Washington/IAD and Capital One Landing locations will be added soon in LaGuardia and Washington/DCA.

Venture X cardholders get unlimited free entry and can bring 2 guests for free. You need to have a departing or connecting flight within 3 hours to use the lounge.

Best of all, Venture X additional cardholders are free and they also get unlimited free entry and can bring 2 guests for free!

Lounge access for Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders is $45 per person per visit. Those cardholders also get 2 free visits per year. Lounge access for everyone else is $65 per visit. Kids under 2 are free.

Lounges feature grab and go food with to-go bags for your flight, fully stocked bars with local beers and craft cocktails, coffee bars, work zones, exercise rooms with Peloton bikes and yoga mats, nursing rooms, kids rooms, soundproof relaxation rooms, luggage lockers, multi-faith prayer rooms, and shower suites!

Priority Pass Membership:

Venture X Primary and additional cardholders get a complimentary Priority Pass lounge membership.

You can enroll here.

Priority Pass lounge membership allows you to bring 2 guests with you into over 1,300 airport lounges. Similar to AMEX, this membership no longer includes access to retail airport offers with a per person credit.

Plaza Premium And Virgin Atlantic Lounge Membership:

Venture X Primary and additional cardholders get a complimentary Plaza Premium lounge membership with 2 free guests. You just need to show your credit card to gain access to these lounges.

These include highly rated Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in JFK, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington DC.

Card earnings:

  • 2 miles per dollar everywhere.
  • 5 miles per dollar on flights booked via Capital One Travel, plus get a refund if Hopper by Capital One Travel says to buy a flight and the prices goes down within 10 days. Cardholders can also freeze the price of select flights for up to 14 days!
  • 10 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked via Capital One Travel.
  • There are no foreign transaction fees.

Spend Threshold:

You’ll need to spend $4,000 on this card within 3 months for 75K bonus miles.

You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.85% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.

My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.

See this post for more ideas on meeting a credit card spend threshold.

Hertz elite status:

Venture X Primary and additional cardholders get Hertz President’s Circle elite status. Benefits include skip the counter and e-return, the widest vehicle selection, guaranteed upgrades, free additional driver, and more!

Excellent MLB Redemptions

Capital One cardholders have access to exclusive tickets to special events such as All-Star Week, the MLB Postseason, and the World Series presented by Capital One.

Plus, you can redeem just 5,000 miles (or $40 cash back) for ultra-premium MLB seats in every ballpark, for every game. There are 4 tickets available for every game at that rate. The best time to buy is when each month’s games go live, which are posted here.

I have gone to games with excellent seats in Cleveland, New York, and DC and hope to go to many more using my Capital One miles at an excellent value!

Getting $200 seats for 5,000 miles is a great deal!

Free Museum Admission

Capital One cardholders can enroll in a free 6 Month Cultivist Enthusiast Membership. You’ll get 6 months of The Cultivist Enthusiast level membership, a $240 value, for free.

Members get free admission for themselves and 3 guests to these museums, including Paris’ Picasso Museum, Venice’s Doge Palace or Ca’ Pesaro, NYC’s Guggenheim or Met, the Art Institute of Chicago, Dallas’ Nasher Sculpture Center, and many more.

Other benefits include on-demand art access, exclusive events, and more.

DDF member Shmueli notes that he was also able to receive free admission to other museums not on the list, including 4 tickets to the Vatican museums with accompanied entrance to skip the lines! He was also able to purchase discounted admission to other museums not on the list, including Rome’s Coliseum.

You’ll want to wait until close to when you’ll be able to take advantage of the free admissions before enrolling in order to maximize this offer’s benefits.

Excellent Visa Infinite card benefits:

This will be a Visa Infinite card, which means it will come with awesome benefits like 3 free years of Shipt for free deliveries from Target stores and more.

Primary and additional cardholders get benefits like:

  • Primary rental car CDW insurance, up to $75,000 of coverage
  • Return protection, up to $300 per item and $1,000 per year.
  • Cell phone insurance, up to $800 per claim and $1,600 per year if monthly bill is charged to card. $50 deductible applies.
  • Trip delay insurance, up to $500 per person on delays of 6+ hours.
  • Trip cancellation and interruption insurance, up to $2,000 per person.
  • Extended warranty of 1 extra year, up to $10,000 per item.
  • Lost Luggage Insurance, up to $2,000 per bag and $3,000 per trip.
  • Travel Accident Insurance, up to $1,000,000 per person.
  • Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 90 days, up to $10,000 per item.

Premier collection hotel access

Venture X Cardholders have access to The Premier Collection of hotels.

Those hotels will qualify for the card’s $300 travel credit and 10x points per dollar, plus you’ll get a $100 experience during your stay, breakfast for 2, free WiFi, upgrades, early check-in, late checkout, and you will earn standard elite credit, elite benefits, and hotel points.

Flight booking perks

Cardholders get access to airfare perks like the ability to get free price drop credits, get alerted about price drops, and the ability to pay a nominal fee to freeze airfare prices or get a refund on airfare for any reason.

Discounted travel offers are also available for Venture X cardholders.

Product changes:

Capital One doesn’t have regular product change options like most banks, but you may be able to change between the no annual fee Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card, the $95/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the $395/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X, but you won’t get a signup bonus for upgrading from VentureOne or Venture to Venture X.

Capital One is an outlier when it comes to account downgrading. While you may be eligible for a downgrade to Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card (no annual fee) or Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card ($95 annual fee), you won’t get a refund of the $395 fee once the fee has been billed to your account. Most other banks allow a full or prorated refund for downgrading a card after a fee is billed. You can try calling to downgrade before the annual fee is billed, though not all cardholders will be eligible for an early downgrade.

However, you can always close a card for at least a month after an annual fee is billed to get a refund of the fee.

Use points for paid travel reimbursement:

You can redeem your points to pay yourself back for any travel related expenses (airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, ride sharing, etc) or book new travel at a value of 1 cent per point.

Airline and hotel transfer partners and transfers to other cards:

You can transfer points from Capital One into these programs at the following ratios:

  • Aeromexico (1:1, SkyTeam)
  • Air Canada Aeroplan (1:1, Star Alliance)
  • Air France/KLM Flying Blue (1:1, SkyTeam)
  • Avianca LifeMiles (1:1, Star Alliance)
  • British Airways Avios (1:1, OneWorld)
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles (1:1, OneWorld)
  • EVA (2:1.5, Star Alliance)
  • Etihad (1:1, No alliance)
  • Emirates (1:1, No alliance)
  • Finnair (1:1, OneWorld)
  • Qantas (1:1, OneWorld)
  • Singapore (1:1, Star Alliance)
  • TAP Air Portugal (1:1, Star Alliance)
  • Turkish Airlines (1:1, Star Alliance)
  • Virgin Red/Virgin Atlantic (1:1, No alliance)
  • Accor Hotels (2:1)
  • Choice Hotels (1:1)
  • Wyndham Hotels (1:1)

You can also combine miles between Capital One miles cards online, transfer cash back into miles online, and you can transfer miles to any Capital One cardholder by calling Capital One!

A nice perk is that after the 1,000 mile minimum transfer, you only need to transfer points in increments of 100, meaning you have fewer leftover points compared to other bank transfers.

Dan’s Quick Thoughts:

This card seems like a no-brainer thanks to the annual credits that more than cover the annual fee.

Assuming you take advantage of those annual credit, there is essentially no cost for all of the card’s valuable benefits, like Capital One lounge access, Priority Pass lounge access, Hertz elite status, high end protections, and more. Plus, all of those benefits apply to free additional user cards and there’s no age limit for Capital One additional user cards.

With the ability to reimburse yourself for any travel purchase and the option to transfer points to airlines like Turkish, where you can fly anywhere in the US50 for just 7.5K miles in coach or 12.5K miles in first class, spending on the card is valuable and doesn’t require jumping through hoops with multiple cards as with other banks.

The 75,000 point bonus is just gravy on top of those benefits!

Thankful!

Can I apply if I have an active one already? If not can I close it and apply?

Dg

I’m in the same boat, anyone?

Alessandro

Do you know if the Cultivist Museum Membership is free also for additional authorized users?

Dan

I’d assume that will work. Capital One AUs have different card numbers.

alex

Makes sense, tks

zeke

Just tried. It worked

Danfan

What’s new with the card now?

Dan

Updated post with the current benefits.

natey

Great post. Thank you!

DeerFeet

Regarding the Culitivist – seems as though the Musee D’orsey and the Louvre have been taken off the list.

Dan

I don’t think the lists are exhaustive. Have you tried asking for tickets?

zeke

According to the app, “Please note, this is not currently a Cultivist partner. While we are happy to help arrange your tickets, you will be charged for the cost of your tickets.”

Nuchem

I have the card, and I think price match is one of the best benefits, but they just changed it to travel (on their portal) credit instead of refund

Dan

Still very useful!

eh

is the 300 dollar credit for airlines etc. after the first year, or right away?

Dan

Right away!

eh

NICE! anyway to trigger it without flying? like gift cards etc.. also anyway to use it for car rental and use corporate discount etc?

zeke

Seems like they still haven’t caught on to cancelling hotel stays after the credit posts.

eh

Thanks!

terpy

Cultivist museum benefit has been dramatically reduced. In Europe, there’s basically nothing outside of Berlin, Venice, and London. No more Musee D’Orsay. Only 6 museums left in NYC.

Dan

Have you asked for tickets to those museums and been denied?

terpy

I got tix to D’Orsay while they were still on the published list. I asked for the tix, and they responded they weren’t eligible anymore so I responded they were still on the published list and they gave them to me for free.
They initially wanted me to pay for them, so I would assume anything not on the list you have to pay.

Rakesh

I am looking for lounge access for 2 adults and 2 kids.. Is this better or upgrade from Chase Mariott Bonvoy to Ritz card ?

Jacob

Is the waldorf in jerusalem included in the premier collection? Is there a list of hotels included? any others in israel?

Dan

Seems like Mamilla is the only current Premier offering in Israel.

Be happy

Freezing a price for 14 days seems like it changed to 2 days

Danfan

Is it true that you can’t have more than 2 Cap1 cards?

Zephyr

No. I have 2 quicksilvers and venture x. I think you’re thinking of Discover

Matt

Does the pay yourself back on travel work for AirBnb??

Dan

Sure!

natey

“Similar to AMEX, this membership no longer includes access to retail airport offers with a per person credit.”
How about for Be Relax Spas?

Dan

Excluded.

Itchakadoozie

Any museums in Israel part of the benefit?

Mark

Just signed up and approved. Was afraid my recent mortgage would have knocked my credit too low but I think it hasn’t hit my report just yet. Thanks for all the amazing info as always.

Dan

Congrats!

Mark

One random thing I noticed when looking at their benefits leaflet is that Israel is one of only 3 countries excluded from their primary rental car coverage. Good to know if you plan to rent a car there with this card.

Josh

I’m not saying its ethical…but the musuems do not care about checking your Cultivist membership card. I was able to keep going even after my membership lapsed. Don’t think I was ever asked for it.

ym

Dan, how can i book with turkish to fly anywhere in the US50 for 7.5k. do i book it with turkish directly? is there any post that you have written up on this?

turgutbey

What do you mean by “get a refund on airfare for any reason”? How does this work? Surely I cant get a refund on a no refundable basic econ ticket?

Dan

“the ability to pay a nominal fee to freeze airfare prices or get a refund on airfare for any reason.”

Danfan

I don’t like the price freeze option, because if the price hikes to more than they are ready to pay, they just refund you, and you are screwed….

dave

@dan
do additional cardholders get refunded for global entry?

Dan

No

Green

If I have four additional cardholders then I don’t pay the annual fee?

H

If I already have one that I signed up for last year, can I apply for a second one and get approved?

Danfan

Officially there is no limit to how many bonuses you can earn, but capital one can be very stingy, and lot’s of reports online claim that you can’t have more than 2 capital one cards all together

H

Do you think it’s worth a try? Also I recently got 5/24ed by chase

Danfan

I would suppose trying for the venture would be a better move, also 75k SUB, but only if the VentureX is your only card, if you already have 2 cap1 cards then maybe try your luck at amex or citi

Pbjclimbing

The Louvre is not included with Cultivist. Many museums have been removed.

P Katz

@Dan,
I opened a Capital One Spark 2Miles/$1 for Business as per your featured cards, (I also needed it for some reason) after getting approved (whiten 5min) I applied for this card and got denied with this msg >”Based on your Pre-Approval form information, there is a currently pending or recently processed application with Capital One”..

What’s their policy, how many acct’s can I open at once?? What can you advise me to do?

Danfan

Official policy is up to 2 in 30 days, unofficial policy is 1 in 6 months

P Katz

Thanks for answering,
Where can I find that official policy so I can ask for a reconsideration?

P Katz

Anywhere in DDforms they talk about it?

marty

I got approved today for this card with a 20k limit. Its been 10 years since Ive had a Capital One card, and I got a message saying I need to verify with a drivers license/state ID before activating the card. Is there any workaround to not submitting a drivers license/state id? Amex and Chase never requested such a thing

a

I once got a representative to verify a capital one account for me on the phone by telling them that I do not have internet access or a smartphone or a tablet, but it may only be because I already have another capital one account verified and linked to the phone number I was calling from

AYC

It’s a great card, got it last time they had a big signup bonus.

Just a heads up: Their insurance company is very difficult to deal with. Way more difficult to deal with than Amex. I recently applied for the return protection coverage, and they made me go back and forth a half dozen times and call them back twice before finally approving it.

A

Applied and got approved
Thanks

Joe B

I have the Amex platinum and the Chase Sapphire reserve (in addition to some others). Is it still worth it? Or should I shut down another card to get this one? 🙂

Danfan

Make your calculations on each card separately, if you don’t cash out on the platinum or the reserve enough to make it worth it, you should close/downgrade even if you do not apply for this card, and if you do squeeze out all it’s worth, why not keep them all…

Ralph

Is it hard to get approved for this card?

Yaks

What’s with the recon? If I apply and got denied are they going to take another pull to recon it?

Question

Dan,
In your opinion, are any of the United CC’s/offers comparable to this one?

Vini

I already have Priority Pass membership through Chase Reserve. If I were to sign up for this card, will I get a separate Priority Pass membership? I know I can bring 2-guests with me using Reserve PP, but will I be allowed to bring 2-additional guests if I also have this card, for a total of 4-guests?

No-brainer

Just got rejected. Anyone have a phone number for recon?
Can someone with past experience pls let me know what they want to hear.
Thanks

Danfan

1-800-625-7866
Capital one is a quite bureaucratic, and if your application doesn’t full in line with their official or unofficial rules they won’t let you get approved, and they won’t even give you a clear reason. but try your luck. I think they just want to hear the regular.

Be

On the lounge page you wrote it gets priority pass “Primary and secondary cards: Free access with unlimited guests.” Here it says 2 guests, which one is right? Any card gives admission to me and 3 kids under 18? Thank YOU!!!!

Michael

@Dan Will they be posting August/September baseball games with premium seats for 5000 points, or has everything been posted already?

Paul

If I closed this card in the last few months, how long should I wait before applying again to get the bonus? Is it 6 months or 1 year?

SC

How can I become part of Hertz President’s Circle once I have the card?

DG

Go to rewards in your CapOne acc. Go to benefits, find the Hertz Presidents Circle option

Pablo

Anyone know if this card is “instant use” following approval? I.e., can I start using it right away without waiting to receive the physical card? (I don’t currently have any accounts w/ Capital One.)

first timer

how do i sign up for tsa and global entry with this card? do i need to do it thru capital one or i should just charge my card and ill ger a refund?

DG

Charge & get refund

CCer

I have one already. Can I get a second?

Unli

Does this card offer free overseas transactions?

Dan

“There are no foreign transaction fees.”

shaya

If i want to downgrade to something that doesnt have an annual fee, what the best one?

yn

Shipt link is only showing one month free, am I missing something?

David

Does anyone have recent experience of how much credit line there giving? a year ago they were giving 30K

Mike

What is the minimum income that will get me approved for this card. And does it make a difference if I am self employed?
Thanx

Aaron Hauptman

My wife and I have a Capital One union branded credit card. Would we be able to transfer over our balance from that card to this Venture X card and close the older card? What would the be the advantages or disadvantages? Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

s r

If i have the venture can i still get the bonus for the venture x?

Dan

Yes

Eli

Can I apply for the venture x and get all the benefits including the sign of bonus if I’m an authorized user on another account

Dan
