Update: You can now book travel on JetBlue to London on Emirates.com.

For example a one-way flight to London in MINT (in fare class I as described below) can run some $5,220:

Or 247,500 JetBlue points:

But you can book it for just 64,000 Emirates miles each way! Incredibly, there are no fuel surcharges:

However, you will pay the UK’s hefty Air Passenger Duties for the return flight:

You can now book JetBlue flights using Emirates miles on Emirates.com.

You’ll need to login to an Emirates Skywards account to search for award space. After logging in, click on Book Classic Rewards Flight and then Search partner flights only.

While JetBlue charges points based on the actual cost of the flight, Emirates charges based on the flight distance, which you can look up on a site like gcmap.com.

Award availability in coach appears to be extremely stingy, but surprisingly, award space in MINT business class is extremely generous.

For example there is award space available from Newark to Los Angeles in MINT class this Sunday, despite paid tickets selling for $1,502:

JetBlue wants 138,500 points in MINT class for those pricey flights:

But with Emirates it costs just 52K miles, a value of 2.87 cents per mile!

If you want to search for economy award space for a whole month at a time, you can search on ITA Matrix for booking class I on a one-way flight. To do that, just click on advanced controls and then paste this into the routing code field: B6 / f bc=P

You can find lots of other useful ITA codes in this DDF thread.

That will give you a calendar of dates with availability:

And then clicking on a date will give you the flights that are available:

Clicking on a flight will confirm that it’s available in booking class I:

And then you can go to the Emirates site to find those same flights available:

I couldn’t find a consistent way to search for economy availability on ITA Matrix.

The same 52K MINT rate would apply to other routes, like NYC to Las Vegas, Palm Springs, San Diego, San Francisco, and Seattle. Search for NYC on the Emirates site to include JFK and Newark. You can find all MINT routes here. If the Emirates site doesn’t allow you to search for your preferred route you can call them at 800-777-3999 to book.

You can also call JetBlue to reserve 3 course kosher meals on all MINT class flights!

You can check if a plane has the new MINT suites by looking at the seat map on JetBlue.com.

JetBlue’s new Mint class suites look awesome:

Unfortunately the Emirates site does not allow you to search for NYC-London flights. I tried calling Emirates 3 times at 800-777-3999, without much luck. The first 2 agents and a manager told me that they are only able to book domestic JetBlue flights. That was clearly not true though as I was able to get some flights to the Caribbean to price out at 40K miles in MINT class. Typically JetBlue’s Caribbean flights only have MINT class planes on Saturdays.

On my 4th call, the agent said that he couldn’t price it out, but he held the award space that I found. Note that you need to search ITA for a round-trip flight to London in order to find booking class I space.

The agent said he will call me back when he is able to get pricing information for my flight. If it’s available I’m expecting the cost to be 64K miles each way. However JetBlue charges massive fuel surcharges on their London flights, which would make the redemption pointless if they are passed on in full by Emirates:

Still, this is a potential game changer as JetBlue transcontinental business class availability is excellent even when fares are high, and there’s a wide range of bank partners that transfer to Emirates. Those transfers are all typically instant, but if you want, you can call Emirates to hold an award while you transfer points in.

I got lost at the end. What’s the relevance of virgin Atlantic and flying blue miles to this post?

SeatSpy

Is it possible to use matrix ita to search other airlines award availability?

Od

1. are all mint class fares lie flat seats on transcotinntal flights like nyc- west coast?

2. what’s my bets bet to find award space lie flat seats from nyc- to san diego?

MIMB

Does it also work for mint studio?

El Capitan

Any hope for this one to last?

Yaalili

I don’t see why not. The pricing itself is not very low. Compare it to 25K Amex for AA J Class Transcon, 15K Citi for United J Class Transcon etc. This just happens to be low compared to the very high Jetblue rates.

I think you should update this post as it seem practically for some or many of us we are not able to book(unless people have had success via phone). Emirates website does not show availability when there is clearly I class fares etc…..

avi cay

just booked mint- kept on getting an error message online, needed to call and give passport info.

Od

was it an error message or no flights found message because when I searched it kept saying no flights found even though matrix showed avaliability

Avi cay

Error booked another ticket had to call but this time they didn’t ask for passport. Just checked in when adding a bag it wants to charge $150…. let’s see what happens at the airport.

any update on emirates pricing nyc to london for you?

Thanks for this information! I made a booking LAX-JFK using Emirates points. Unfortunately JetBlue then cancelled this flight due to weather and put me on a flight over 2 days later! This is despite the fact that I watched them send off several flights on the same route later that day with empty seats. One challenge I would point out, at least in my case, is that if something goes wrong with a JetBlue flight that you booked with Emirates points, the JetBlue agents are completely unable to manage/change your booking. Even though I think this qualified as an IROP scenario, the agents couldn’t figure out a way to move my flight. I am now having a very hard time getting in touch with anyone at JetBlue that seems able to help. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you Dan and JJ for everything you do!

Izz

Just keep in mind, Emirates has been aggressively auditing accounts of people who recently transferred Amex or other points to book a trip. Saw this posted on OMAAT a few days ago.

joel

yes you can read the whole post there

But with these audits, Emirates Skywards largely seems to be targeting people who open a Skywards account, then transfer points from a partner (like Amex or Chase), and then book a ticket. On the surface I could see how this could be suspicious if you’re constantly transferring points and booking tickets for others (but never yourself), but in this case there are many reports of people transferring their own Amex points to Emirates Skywards, then booking a ticket for themselves and a companion, and then being audited. Huh?!

joel

also your pricing above is not so accurate since jetblue dont allow book one way on points for half price, so 247k is really for a one way, but if you book a round trip you can get it for 160k [e.g nov 11 – 14 you can see that]

joel

ok but 160k with $300 surcharges us still better then 247k

dot complaint would help probably but long process till they answer, and if you want to fly somewhere…

Dovidb

You have capital one listed as a 2:1 ratio it now transfers 1:1

freecountry

I cannot get rewards to show for jetblue on emirates, I even tried your example and all i get is “Sorry, we were unable to price the selected itinerary. Please try different dates or fare combinations, or get in touch with us for assistance.” what am i doing wrong?

Justin

Found a flight in May for 128k miles + $300 US. Booking the same flight directly on B6 would be 170k B6 points + $300. So a decent savings, probably even better deals to be found like the one Dan posted about @ 52k miles, thank you!
