PSA: last summer I saw somewhere that Irish Spring bar soap can be used as a possible ant deterrent. I know there is a big machlokes on this. I thought it was nuts but I tried it and actually it seemed to work for me. I took several bars and rubbed them on the bricks on the outside of my house near the ground till the bars were nubs , as well as on window sills etc where in the past I saw ants. I was pretty surprised by the results. The good thing is that you can use this indoors. I plan to try it again next spring/summer. YMMV
