Earn 75,000 Ultimate Rewards Points On The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card!

Signup Bonus

You can earn 75,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for opening a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and spending $4,000 in 3 months. Those points are worth a minimum of $750 cash back or $937.50 towards travel and other categories, but they can be worth much more as shown below.

Also available is a 75,000 point offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card.

These cards were previously offering a 60,000 point signup bonus.

Annual fee

There is a $95 annual fee for the primary card and no annual fee for additional cardholders.

Card signup bonus terms

If you received your last Sapphire bonus on today’s date in 2020 or earlier, you are now eligible to earn another Sapphire bonus!

  1. You won’t get approved for this card if you have received a signup bonus on Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Sapphire card within the past 48 months. You can call Chase to find out when you last earned a bonus on those cards or you can pull up your old statements online to check when you last got a bonus. You can also send Chase a secure message with your old card number to ask when you got the signup bonus on it.
  2. You won’t get approved for this card if you currently have an active Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, or Sapphire card. However you can call Chase to change those cards to a Freedom Unlimited, Freedom, or Freedom Flex card, wait 2-4 days, and then apply for a Sapphire Preferred!
  3. You can apply and Chase won’t pull your credit or approve you if you are not eligible to get the card bonus.
  4. You will get the bonus for this card even if you are an authorized user on another person’s Sapphire card.
  5. If you are approved, that means you will get the bonus for this card as long as you spend $4,000 in 3 months.

5/24

Some Chase cards are subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you might not be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Enforcement of 5/24 has been patchy for the past year and the only way to know if you can get approved is by trying to apply.

Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.

You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.

Annual hotel credit

Get a $50 annual hotel credit every cardmembership year as a statement credit when you book any hotel through Chase Travel.

You can pay for hotels with partial cash and partial points at a value of 1.25 cents per point, so you can pay $50 and get back $50, plus use points for the remainder.

Anniversary bonus

Sapphire Preferred Cardholders get a 10% anniversary points bonus on all spending. For example if you spend $20K on your card in a cardmembership year, you’ll get a 2,000 point bonus.

The bonus does not apply to the signup bonus or bonus point categories, it only applies to the 1 point per dollar base spending.

If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve, then your points will be worth at least 1.5 cents towards travel!

Killer Combos

Stacking multiple Ultimate Rewards cards together can supercharge your earnings by getting you more points per dollar while increasing the value of all your points.

Chase Bifecta would consist of a household that has the Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve and the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card. The total effective annual fees would be either $95 with Sapphire Preferred or $250 with Sapphire Reserve after accounting for that card’s $300 annual travel credit. With the Sapphire Preferred+Ink Unlimited you would earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere, 2.1 points per dollar on all travel after the Sapphire Preferred annual bonus, 3 points per dollar on drugstores, 3.1 points per dollar on dining, streaming, and online grocery shopping after the Sapphire Preferred annual bonus, and 5.1 points per dollar on travel booked via Chase after the Sapphire Preferred annual bonus. You’ll be able to transfer all of your points into airline miles or hotel points.

Chase Trifecta adds a no annual fee card like the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card or Chase Freedom Flex into the mix, so your total effective annual fee will still be $95 or $250. Both of those cards give options to earn a whopping 5 points per dollar in various categories on top of the 2-3 points per dollar that the Sapphire cards offer and the 1.5-5 points per dollar everywhere else with a Freedom Unlimited card.

Chase Quadfecta would add both the Ink Cash and Chase Freedom Flex on top of a Sapphire card and an Unlimited card, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95 or $250. The Quadfecta is the sweet spot and allows you to really supercharge your spending everywhere.

Chase Quinfecta could add the Ink Preferred to that mix, adding $95 to the annual fee total. This make sense if you spend money on shipping, social media advertising, or search engine advertising, or if you want free cell phone insurance.

Again, all of these cards don’t need to be in one person’s name. 2 people from the same household can split up the requisite cards that make up the Quinfecta, as they can transfer the Ultimate Rewards points back and forth between themselves freely and they can add each other as an authorized user on their cards!

Airline transfer partners

You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:

  • United (Star Alliance)
  • Air Canada Aeroplan (Star Alliance)
  • Singapore (Star Alliance)
  • Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam)
  • British Airways (OneWorld)
  • Aer Lingus (OneWorld)
  • Iberia (OneWorld)
  • Qatar (OneWorld, transfer via BA)
  • Emirates
  • JetBlue
  • Southwest
  • Virgin Atlantic

Hotel transfer partners

You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:

  • Hyatt
  • IHG
  • Marriott
  • You can also transfer points to Hilton at a 1:1.5 ratio via Virgin Atlantic.

The great thing about Chase Ultimate Rewards is how versatile and valuable they are

The Ink Preferred Card and Sapphire Preferred cards allow you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. They also allow you to use points at a value of 1.25 cents each towards travel.

The Sapphire Reserve also allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. Plus it allows you to use points at a value of 1.5 cents each towards travel.

The fixed value is excellent and doesn’t require hunting down award space, but those points can be much more valuable by transferring them into airline miles or hotel points.

  • If I want to stay in a 5 star Park Hyatt in the Maldives, Melbourne, NYC, ParisSydney, or Tokyo that would cost over $1,000/night, I can instantly transfer 25-40K points to Hyatt to do that, a value of up to 6 cents per point.
  • If I need a one-way flight from Cleveland (or Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Montreal, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc) to NYC that can cost $500 each way, I can instantly transfer 6K points to Qatar Avios via British Airways to book a short-haul on American with no last minute booking fees. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point.
  • Air Canada offers one-way short haul awards for just 6K miles. You can also get stopover awards for 5K miles, build round-the-world awards, and get free lap child awards in the US/Canada and bring lap children to anywhere else in the world for just C$25!
  • If I want to stay in a non-chain hotel that costs $300/night and don’t want to pay cash, I can redeem 20K points for the room thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 24K points with the Sapphire Preferred Card’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point
  • If I want to fly in a $30,000 ANA First Class Suite round-trip from the US to Tokyo, I can instantly transfer 145K-170K points to Virgin Atlantic. That’s a value of up to 21 cents per point. You can now redeem one-way awards for half the price as well!
  • If I want to book a $2,281 business class ticket on Air Canada to Tel Aviv I can redeem 152K points for the flight thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 182K points with the Sapphire Preferred’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point, plus I’ll earn Qantas miles for more future travel as it’s considered a paid flight instead of an award flight.
  • And thousands of other possibilities from Singapore couples suites to booking Southwest awards with 2 free bags and free cancellations, to stealing 2nd base in middle of an MLB game.

“If you received your last Sapphire bonus on today’s date in 2020 or earlier.”

For the bonus points, is it 24 months or 48 months wait time to apply again?

G

If I applied and got approved for the sapphire 60K offer 2 days ago (haven’t even received the card yet), will they honor this offer on the approval?

Tuna beigel

Just Got The offer match too. Signed up a month ago

andrew

how did you reach out to them? I secure messaged and was denied.

I called twice both representatives told me if it was with in 30 days they’ll give it. I signed up 37 days ago of course

Hi Dan – If i have the Reserve for over 48 months and i downgrade it to the flex and then right after upgrade back to the reserve (For the signup bonus), is this an issue with 5/24? Will they pull my credit to downgrade and then upgrade again? Thanks.

Ab

Will I receive a signup bonus for upgrading a downgraded card?

Jack

if i just payed the annual fee for the Sapphire and downgrade and then upgrade back to get the bonus, when will i have to pay the annual fee?

HudZ

No 100K like last time, any time soon?

YonaZ

If I have had this card for the past 5years and haven’t received any bonus offers since my sighnup up is there any way i can get this offer and if yes how

Sage

2 questions regarding the transferability to Hilton points:

1. The 1:1.5 ratio is 1 chase point for 1.5 Hilton points or vice versa?

2. If I’m looking to rack up Hilton points, is it better to rack up chase points and transfer or should I open a Hilton card and earn more that way?

Joel

If I have been rejected from this card in the past due to “Credit report shows too many recently opened accounts” Will I be approved now because there is a limited time offer? Also would you say to get the preferred or reserved?

Dr.17

Between chase sapphire Reserved, Preferred, and Capital 1 venture X, I can’t seem to choose which card to get.

boruch

1.25-1.5% redemption on paid travel, does that need to be booked through chase or can be booked directly with an airline?

Rina

As a follow up to my question. Just to clarify, regarding the chase ink business cash (while the the deal for 90,000 points) you wrote even if you exceed the 5/24 rule you can still get approved manually because of the limited time offer, was this strictly for 5/24 or in general if you have a bunch of new credit lines which is the reason for rejection?

Eli

When is this deal expiring?

xbox 360

is the .1 extra really worth losing the reserve’s travel protection on chase travel purchases?

Tuna beigel

Preferred still has good protection.

Drew

Awesome post! If I’ve had the Sapphire Preferred for 4 years but also already currently hold the freedom unlimited and flex cards, can I still pursue the strategy of: downgrading-waiting 2-4 days-then re-applying?

If not, I was thinking perhaps I could transfer my outstanding Sapphire points to my spouse who has Chase cards, cancel my Sapphire card, then re-apply 2-4 days later. Do you think either of these strategies could work? Thanks!

YL

If I downgraded my card from 2016 to a freedom unlimited today- do I have to wait to apply for the sapphire or can I apply right away?
Also if I apply and don’t get approved can I reapply In a few days ?

mo

If I have a Sapphire Reserve and looking for another card for my spouse, should I get a Preferred or Ink?

Tuna beigel

If you already have the reserve, the tiny additions of those two cards don’t justify their annual fees. The ink cash or ink unlimited are a better choice.

al

are there any reports of people getting approved (- and therefore the bonus) after a few years -perhaps by HUCA, despite being within 48 months, or is it an ironclad rule?

Ploni

How do I meet the minimum requirements by overpaying taxes? How long does it take to get a refund? How about buying gift cards converting it into cash and using that to pay credit card? Any other options?

Yosef

how long after I switch my preferred (that I opened 5 years ago) to a Flex etc. can I apply if the Card i swapped to (the Flex) is showing up in my online account that my card is active?

Jon L.

Is it possible to transfer points from Chase Business Ink cards to Sapphire Preferred card accounts to get the increase redemption value (for traveling)?

Mark

Hi, I am an additional user to my parents sapphire, if I apply now for my own card what’s the chances they will approve me being that I technically have a sapphire already?
Thanx would appreciate any assistance

Tuna beigel

You have a high chance of approval if your credit suggests so.

CSR

Looking to downgrade CSR to reg Sapphire. if I get AF refunded, do i keep my $300 travel credit on same month?

Andrew (SJC)

Can I get this if I currently hold a Sapphire (plain) bonus window is beyond 48m.

curios

I know that product upgrades are only availble after 12 months but i would like to know if there is any way how i could upgrade from a sapphire preferred to reserve with in the first 12 monthes or did anyone have any luck doing so

Boomie

Is Chase Saphire still the only cc that offers primary car rental CDW in Israel?

Tuna beigel

Chase ink preferred has it. The other inks have it too but will be charged a foreign transaction fee.

Mark

Hi, I am an additional user to my parents sapphire, if I apply now for my own card what’s the chances they will approve me being that I technically have a sapphire already?
And is it true if I call chase and remove myself as an additional member the card will still work, being that the primary account holder still has his account?
Thanx would appreciate any assistance

Tuna beigel

“You will get the bonus for this card even if you are an authorized user on another person’s Sapphire card.” You don’t even have to cancel the AU card.

RH

“We need to review your application ” does this mean I was denied? Is there any way for me to check in rather than waiting for an answer by mail in 10 days?

Tuna beigel

Call them. They might approve you on the spot.
