For example this Coravin Model Limited Edition Wine Preservation System normally sells for $349.99, and is on sale for $174.95. When you apply the 20% off it applies to the full price of $349.99, giving you an additional $70 discount for a total for just $104.95 shipped! Instead of receiving 20% off with the AMEX promotion you are actually saving 40% off the sale price!
2. You can purchase Gift Cards to other stores from Amazon at 20% off and sell them to gift card resellers like CardCash. (Amazon gift cards are excluded)
For example:
If you purchase 5 $100 Alberton’s Gift Cards the total cost will be $400 after the 20% off AMEX discount.
You can then sell the gift card to CardCash for $440 cash, netting you a $40 profit. You can pay for gift cards with Amazon gift cards as well. Can Albertsons gift cards be used at a jewel Osco? I messaged Jewel Osco but never heard back

You can buy Safeway e-gift cards and they can be taken to Jewel and converted into physical jewel cards. Two things to note:
1) They must be e-gift cards, which you can get from Amazon.
2) You will have to go to the customer service desk. Since they don’t get this situation often they will likely not know how to deal with this and will need to call the main office. However, we have successfully done this at the Jewel on Howard in Evanston.
If you need more details I’d call the Jewel for help.

How do you pay with a gift card and still get the 20% off with 1 amex point? I seem to loose the disc if I choose a form of payment other then the amex cc
Add the Amazon GC to your account, choose the AMEX cc, enter 1 point, and the remainder can be paid with the gift card.
This doesn’t seem to work. I can either select “amazon balance” or “pay with points.” One supercedes the other.
When I select “amazon balance” the Amex 20% goes away.

Yeah, i have plenty of credit with amazon. It is credit that is pre-loaded into my account however, not a gift card code that can be input into the promo section on checkout. Is that what you’re doing?
Dan, can you please advise as to how to go about using 1 MR point AND paying for the order with a GC. I have a GC balance to completely cover my order and yet it won’t let me use both.

Tried on computer as well. Radio buttons for payments – either amex or amazon gift balance. As soon as deselecting AmEx, the discount goes away.

It’s weird. Even according to their own terms, we should be able to use the gift card balance:
“I have a gift card or stored value available in my Amazon account. How will this be applied with rewards points?
Amazon applies the rewards points that you requested to use and that your rewards provider approved for use, then the gift card or stored value amount, and then any remaining balance to the Credit or Charge Card linked to your registered rewards account.”
When I go to the final checkout page, it says “Your $800.47 gift card balance can’t be applied to orders that contain Amazon.com or Visa gift cards, or collectible coins.” But I don’t have amazon.com or VGC or coins in my cart. I did add VGC to my card before to see if I could buy it but then deleted it. Wonder if it still somehow thinks that it is in there…

No. When I tried, it told me can’t use Amazon gift card balance for Amazon or Visa GCs.

Dan, VERY IMPORTANT INFO- If you choose No rush shipping then it cancels the 20% off. I did it with the coravin and then when i saw the charge on cc i realized that i didnt receive the 20 off even though it showed it on the screen. I tried to speak to many reps and to no avail.
I was able to do no-rush shipping WITH the 20% off, so it’s definitely possible. Not sure what went wrong on your end.
I made 2 orders. 1 with 2 day shipping and 1 with No rush. The one with 2 day g or applied the other not. 3 diff reps told me that the reason was because of the no rush shipping. They claim it’s in the T&C and when I told them that it’s not they said they can’t help me. Same with supervisors. It was a prime deal so I can’t even cancel cuz the price is double now.

I guess I did something pretty stupid, I bought $500 in Staples gift cards after I call the store and verify that they would sell me Visa cards with them. surprise surprise, the store will only sell gift cards for cash. Any ideas? Card cash only wants to give me 415 for all of them
