Just turn off motion zones and alerts?
I tried that in the past but noticed that when I walk past it at night, it still lights up (even though all motion zones and alerts were turned off).

I am not a Rav but Star K (Rabbi Heinemann) says it is not permitted. IMO, if you purchase the device to record motion then it is hard to say lo nicha lei.

According to Ring, on battery enabled devices you cant shut off motion detection.
