Transfer Citi ThankYou Points Or Hotel Points To Avianca Lifemiles And Get A 25% Bonus! Redeem United Award Flights For Just 6,000 Points!

Click on “Transfer your points to Lifemiles” for the full details.

You can transfer increments of 1,000 Citi ThankYou Points into 1,250 Avianca Lifemiles through 7/5/19. The 25% bonus is added by Lifemiles and will take up to 45 days to post to your account.

For a limited time you can earn 60,000 points with the Citi Premier® Card . Read more about the card here.

You can also earn a 25% bonus with transfers from Hilton, IHG, or Marriott. The only worthwhile option would be from Marriott, where 60K points would transfer into 31,250 Lifemiles after the 25% Marriott bonus for 60K transfers and the 25% Lifemiles bonus.

Note that Avianca Lifemiles require earning activity every 12 months in order to stop your miles from expiring. Transferring points to Lifemiles will extend the points validity for 12 more months.

With this promotion you’ll be able to redeem United award flights from just 6,000 points each way! You can read more about that and all about the Avianca Lifemiles program in this post.

Dan – Can you do a post on what’s the best value for using Avianca Lifemiles? I don’t know if this is good or if I should wait for Citi to do another promo with Qantas.

Dan wrote about them here

Lifemiles will not let you redeem for a ticket on United within 7 hours. Better to keep some Aeroplan points or Singapore for the last minute bookings that you want to avoid the fee.

Singapore has also been terrible lately with showing partner airlines…

Ever since they (Lifemiles) re-did the website, I can never find availability even when there’s availability on UA and AC and other partner sites. Anyone else have difficulties?
Is is a site bug or am I doing something wrong?

Eli

You need to search under star alliance and not smart search.

Jake

Having same problem today too

Dan, can you pls clarify?
I just got the email from lifemiles about the promo and it says specific partners and financial institutions that are participating in this and citi is not one of them? Thanks

Dan,
Any guestimate when the next Citi bonus to Avianca will be? Might be worth waiting to see if there will be a stackable offer (their current offer to VA expires in 2 days…)

Yoely

Amex transfer also qualifies for the 25% bonus ?

Jack

How many points does Avianca charge for YYZ-EWR on UA/AC? Anyone know off hand?

You should probably update the post to reflect the fact that LifeMiles charges a BS $25 “redemption fee” per booking, no matter how big or small, and there’s no way to avoid it. So even at 6k miles, it’s not nearly as much of a bargain once the $25 is slapped on top – other programs do not charge the $25, even if they charge a bit more miles.

As a data point, I requested a transfer of 60K Marriott points yesterday evening (6/25/19) at about 5:00 PM EST. My LM account was credited as of this morning (6/26/19) at 11:00 AM with 25,000 LM + 6,250 bonus.
