Dan – Can you do a post on what’s the best value for using Avianca Lifemiles? I don’t know if this is good or if I should wait for Citi to do another promo with Qantas.

Lifemiles will not let you redeem for a ticket on United within 7 hours. Better to keep some Aeroplan points or Singapore for the last minute bookings that you want to avoid the fee.
Singapore has also been terrible lately with showing partner airlines…
Ever since they (Lifemiles) re-did the website, I can never find availability even when there’s availability on UA and AC and other partner sites. Anyone else have difficulties?

Just searched a random date CLE-EWR and it pulled up flights. It’s always been a buggy site though. And flights within a couple days have always been a problem.
You need to search under star alliance and not smart search.

You should probably update the post to reflect the fact that LifeMiles charges a BS $25 “redemption fee” per booking, no matter how big or small, and there’s no way to avoid it. So even at 6k miles, it’s not nearly as much of a bargain once the $25 is slapped on top – other programs do not charge the $25, even if they charge a bit more miles.
As a data point, I requested a transfer of 60K Marriott points yesterday evening (6/25/19) at about 5:00 PM EST. My LM account was credited as of this morning (6/26/19) at 11:00 AM with 25,000 LM + 6,250 bonus.
