Transfer Capital One Miles To Etihad And Get A 20%-40% Bonus

Transfer miles from Capital One to Etihad by 3/31 at 3:59pm ET and you will get bonus miles, as follows:

  • Transfer 1,000 to 10,000 miles, receive 20% Bonus Miles on each transaction.
  • Transfer 10,001 to 50,000 miles, receive 30% Bonus Miles on each transaction.
  • Transfer 50,001+ miles, receive 40% Bonus Miles on each transaction.

Etihad has a distance-based award chart for partner airlines, like AA and El Al. You’ll have to call Etihad to book most partner award flights.

A short-haul flight on AA up to 500 miles in distance is just 6K miles in coach or 10K in business, excluding the 20-40% bonus.

One-way rates on El Al, excluding the 20-40% bonus:

  • Larnaca to Tel Aviv will cost 6K coach, 7.5K premium, or 10K business each way.
  • Athens to Tel Aviv will cost 12K coach, 13K premium, or 20K business each way.
  • Budapest, Dubai, Rome, or Vienna to Tel Aviv will cost 15K coach, 19K premium, or 30K business each way.
  • Milan or Zurich to Tel Aviv will cost 23K coach, 25K premium, or 40K business each way.
  • London or Paris to Tel Aviv will cost 28K coach, 31K premium, or 50K business each way.
  • Boston or NYC to Tel Aviv will cost 67K coach, 74K premium, or 120K business each way.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Miami, or LA to Tel Aviv will set you back 75K coach, 90K premium, or 140K business each way.

A 40% bonus will make those rates more palatable. NYC to Tel Aviv will cost 47.8K Capital One miles in coach, 52.8K Capital One miles in premium, or 85.7 Capital One miles in business each way.

You can search for El Al award space on Alaska Airlines’ website and call Etihad to book.

You can spend 160,000 Etihad miles (114.2K Capital One miles) plus $544 to fly one-way in Etihad first class apartments. If you’re dreaming of Etihad’s Residence though, it appears that the upgrade option is only available on paid tickets.

Two huge caveats with Etihad miles is that the award cancellation fees are usurious and miles will now expire after 18 months, unless you credit a flight to the program.

86k points for JFK – TLV is nice. Are there fuel charges? Does the bonus points post instantly?

Zack

No fuel charges. No idea when bonus points post though

Eli

Points posted while on the phone with a rep.
Was able to book instantly.

Thanks Dan!
I managed to book JFK-TLV
Capital One isn’t showing the bonus so I transfered full amount needed but received the bonus! Now I have extra miles in my Etihad account that I didn’t want.

Do you know if Etihad allow you to upgrade with points if buisness becomes available?

Can anyone explain the diferent meal option on Elal?

Curious about Surcharges

Why are there no fuel surcharges when booking on the phone?

united

When I booked, they charged me more points, and did not give an option to pay the surcharge in dollars.
I then tried to transfer more cap points to make a second reservation, and the second transfer was not instant

Is the Capital One transfer to Etihad to get the bonus targeted? Seems like a member here managed to get the bonus without it showing up by Capital One.

united

looks like the bonus is from Ethihad, not capital 1. The offer shows on my Etihad account, and not in cap1

Booking El Al with Etihad miles is a bit tricky. The site says a certain number of miles per ticket that is in line with the award table. Then you get to the completion page and the number of miles jumps up and the taxes/fees go down (presumably more miles in lieu of the taxes). It took me 3 calls to get a representative that was knew how to book it for the right number of miles (actually it was about 100 more per ticket for some reason, so I had to transfer in another 1000 to cover it). This was for LCA-TLV, nothing crazy.

I just did a transfer (10 minutes after the 3:59ET cutoff), and I still got the 40% bonus
