The Chase IHG card has increased its standard bonus offer from 60K points to 80K points after spending $1,000 within 3 months. You can also get an additional 5K points for adding a free additional user card.
You can view credit card offers by hovering over the “Credit Cards” tab. You can then view hotel cards “Hotel Credit Cards“ or you can choose to view “credit cards from all banks.“
The card’s $49 annual fee is waived for the first year.
You can get the signup bonus as long as you haven’t received an IHG signup bonus within the past 24 months.
An excellent perk of the card is the annual free anniversary night that is valid at any IHG in the world. The free night can even be used at Intercontinental hotels where hotel rates are normally up to $1,000 or 60K points per night in places like Bora Bora, London, Hong Kong, etc. It’s worth hanging onto the card just for this perk alone.
The Chase IHG card is not subject to the Chase 5/24 guidelines, so you can get approved even if you have 5 approved consumer card applications within the past 24 months.
IHG free nights start at just 5K points with PointBreaks, which offers discounts on rotating hotels.
IHG cardholders get Platinum IHG elite status and they get a 10% rebate on all points redeemed, making 5K hotels cost 4.5K and top-tier 60K hotels cost 54K points.
The card earns 5 points per dollar at IHG hotel, 2 points per dollar at gas stations, grocery stores & restaurants, and 1 point per dollar elsewhere. That’s not a particularly compelling value for your spending, but the card benefits make this a valuable card.
There are no foreign transaction fees with this card.
IHG also has a large footprint in Israel. Here is what those hotels charge per night before the 10% points rebate for cardholders:

Kimpton isn’t part of IHG rewards yet, but Crowne Plaza is.

Sorry if this is a dumb question – you said it doesn’t count towards 5/24 so if you have 5 already you can still get it – does it work the same the other way, meaning if I currently am at 4/24 I will still be able to get another card after this one?
No, this will put you at 5/24, though even if you are 4/24, you can apply for other cards with this card and get multiple cards approved before you become 5/24.

When staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel @ 20k per night, does that include Shabbos meals ?
I think only Leil Shabbos, kiddush and the seuda Shabbos morning but not Shalosh seudos as that is after check out time.

HI Ashkelon is being removed from the IHG family as of August 1, 2017 so if anyone wants to use 10K points per night, hurry up. In my opinion it isn’t worth it. All the IHG properties in Israel charge a lot, either in money or points, for what they offer.
I’m over 5/24. I was turned down for Hyatt for this reason just 2 weeks ago. Is it a bad idea to try for this card so quickly after a denial? Does it even matter?
Both the Hyatt and Ihg should be exempt from 5/24. Is that the reason they specifically gave you? Maybe they are now rejecting for too many recent applications, even if exempt from 5/24. Anyone know? Think you’d get same response if you attempted the IHG card. I’d also HUCA on the Hyatt card.

I would just point out that my experience is that there is very little availability in Israel.
Had no problem using the free anniversary night at the Haifa Crowne Plaza right after o pesach, also gave me free parking and free breakfast for two because I’m a platinum member
For some reason the Crowne Plazas seem to value Platinum members more than any of the other brands within the IHG chain, not only in Israel but Europe as well. I have also stayed at the CP Haifa [using points] where they were very pleasant. We had an upgraded room to a small suite with great views. I didn’t even think to ask for breakfast as well. Contrast that to stays in the David IC Tel Aviv and the HI Ashkelon where they just look at you blankly when you mention your Platinum status – I have never been welcomed as such – then tell you politely and with a sweet smile that you are not going to get anything more than what your reservation confirmation shows, because that is all you are entitled to! They may have the IHG logo but they are Israeli run hotels with the usual Israeli arrogant attitude.
