Earn 80,000 Ultimate Rewards Points On The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card!

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card Limited Time Offer

For a limited time only, you can earn 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for opening a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and spending $4,000 in 3 months. Those points are worth a minimum of $800 cash back or $1,000 towards travel and other categories, but they can be worth much more as shown below.

The previous signup bonus offer on this card was 60K for spending $4,000 in 3 months. During the pandemic this card once offered a record high 100K signup bonus, which expired in 2021. You may be able to receive a 90K offer for spending $6,000 in Chase branch locations.

It is unknown how long this offer will last for.

Multiple readers share that they were able to get matched from 60K to 80K by calling and/or sending a secure message to Chase!

Also available is a 60,000 point offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card, but you will probably be better off applying for this card and converting it to a Reserve card down the line.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card annual fee

There is a $95 annual fee for the primary card and no annual fee for additional cardholders.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card signup bonus terms

If you received your last Sapphire bonus on today’s date in 2019 or earlier, you are now eligible to earn another Sapphire bonus!

  1. You won’t get approved for this card if you have received a signup bonus on Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Sapphire card within the past 48 months. You can call Chase to find out when you last earned a bonus on those cards or you can pull up your old statements online to check when you last got a bonus. You can also send Chase a secure message with your old card number to ask when you got the signup bonus on it.
  2. You won’t get approved for this card if you currently have an active Sapphire Reserve, Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, or Sapphire card. However you can call Chase to change those cards to a Freedom Unlimited, Freedom, or Freedom Flex card, wait 2-4 days, and then apply for a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ! You can keep them as Freedom cards to help build your Quinfecta or you can upgrade back again if you still want a Sapphire Reserve.
  3. You can apply and Chase won’t pull your credit or approve you if you are not eligible to get the card bonus.
  4. You will get the bonus for this card even if you are an authorized user on another person’s Sapphire card.
  5. If you are approved, that means you will get the bonus for this card as long as you spend $4,000 in 3 months.

5/24

All Chase cards that earn Ultimate Rewards are typically subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are not likely to be approved if you have been approved for 5 or more consumer credit cards in the past 24 months. Note that the Chase system automatically counts cards like authorized user cards and store cards as cards that count towards 5/24, but if you explain to Chase that those cards are merely authorized user cards or store cards they can manually approve you for a new card.

You can check your credit report for free at the federally authorized annualcreditreport.com to check how many accounts are shows as being open in the past 24 months.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card annual hotel credit

Get a $50 annual hotel credit every cardmembership year as a statement credit when you book any hotel through the Ultimate Rewards portal.

You can pay for hotels with partial cash and partial points at a value of 1.25 cents per point, so you can pay $50 and get back $50, plus use points for the remainder.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card anniversary bonus

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card holders get a 10% anniversary points bonus on all spending. For example if you spend $20K on your card in a cardmembership year, you’ll get a 2,000 point bonus.

The bonus does not apply to the signup bonus or bonus point categories, it only applies to the 1 point per dollar base spending.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card spend threshold

You’ll need to spend $4,000 on this card within 3 months.

You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.85% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.

My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.

See this post for more ideas on meeting a credit card spend threshold.

  • Primary rental car CDW insurance in every country.

Increased points value

If you or someone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from any card at a value of 1.25 cents towards paid travel. That makes the 80K points worth at least $1,000 towards paid travel.

If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve card you can redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from any card at a value of 1.5 cents towards paid travel. That makes the 80K points worth at least $1,200 towards paid travel.

Airline and hotel transferability

If you or someone in your household has a Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card you can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points into valuable airline and hotel mileage currencies.

Card convertibility

You can call Chase to convert this card or any of the following cards into another card from this list:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ($95 annual fee)
  • Chase Sapphire Reserve® Card ($550 annual fee)
  • Chase Freedom Unlimited® Card ($0 annual fee)
  • Chase Freedom Card ($0 annual fee)
  • Chase Freedom Flex Mastercard ($0 annual fee)

Note that some reps will only allow card conversions after you have had the card for 12 months.

If you or someone in your household has a Sapphire Reserve, then your points will be worth at least 1.5 cents towards travel!

If you want to get a Sapphire Reserve, your best path is to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card and then convert it to a Sapphire Reserve as you’ll get 80,000 signup bonus points instead of 50,000 points!

Killer Combos

Stacking multiple Ultimate Rewards cards together can supercharge your earnings by getting you more points per dollar while increasing the value of all your points.

Read more about this strategy in depth in this post.

Chase Bifecta would consist of a household that has the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Sapphire Reserve and the Freedom Unlimited. The total effective annual fees would be either $95 with Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or $250 with Sapphire Reserve after accounting for that card’s $300 annual travel credit. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card+Freedom Unlimited you would earn 1.5 points per dollar everywhere, 2.1 points per dollar on all travel, 3 points per dollar on drugstores, 3.1 points per dollar on dining, streaming, and online grocery shopping, and 5.1 points per dollar on travel booked via Chase. You’ll be able to transfer all of your points into airline miles or hotel points. Read more about Freedom Unlimited here.

Chase Trifecta adds a no annual fee card like Ink Cash or Chase Freedom Flex into the mix, so your total effective annual fee will still be $95 or $250. Both of those cards give options to earn a whopping 5 points per dollar in various categories on top of the 2-3 points per dollar that the Sapphire cards offer and the 1.5-5 points per dollar everywhere else with a Freedom Unlimited card. Read more about Freedom Flex here and read more about Ink Cash here.

Chase Quadfecta would add both the Ink Cash and Chase Freedom Flex on top of a Sapphire card and an Unlimited card, so your total effective annual fee will still be just $95 or $250. The Quadfecta is the sweet spot and allows you to really supercharge your spending everywhere.

Chase Quinfecta could add the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card to that mix, adding $95 to the annual fee total. This make sense if you spend money on shipping, social media advertising, or search engine advertising, or if you want free cell phone insurance.

Alternatively, you can create a Chase Quinfecta by adding the Chase United Explorer card, United Club Infinite Card, United Gateway℠ Card, United Quest℠ Card, or Chase United Business Card into the mix. Those cards don’t earn Ultimate Rewards points, but it makes your Ultimate Rewards points more valuable. Having a United card enables you to have access to significantly expanded United saver and standard award space in addition to benefits like 2 free club passes, a free checked bag, a free carry-on bag, and priority boarding, even when you’re on a basic economy fare. See more about those benefits here.

Again, all of these cards don’t need to be in one person’s name. 2 people from the same household can split up the requisite cards that make up the Quinfecta, as they can transfer the Ultimate Rewards points back and forth between themselves freely and they can add each other as an authorized user on their cards!

Airline transfer partners

You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:

  • United (Star Alliance)
  • Air Canada Aeroplan (Star Alliance)
  • Singapore (Star Alliance)
  • Air France/KLM Flying Blue (Skyteam, 25% bonus through 5/15)
  • British Airways (OneWorld)
  • Aer Lingus (OneWorld)
  • Iberia (OneWorld)
  • Qatar (OneWorld, transfer via BA)
  • Emirates
  • JetBlue
  • Southwest
  • Virgin Atlantic

Hotel transfer partners

You can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio to:

  • Hyatt
  • IHG
  • Marriott (50% bonus through 5/15)

The great thing about Chase Ultimate Rewards is how versatile and valuable they are

The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. They also allow you to use points at a value of 1.25 cents each towards travel.

The Sapphire Reserve also allows you and anyone in your household to transfer Chase points into miles. Plus it allows you to use points at a value of 1.5 cents each towards travel.

The fixed value is excellent and doesn’t require hunting down award space, but those points can be much more valuable by transferring them into airline miles or hotel points.

  • If I want to stay in a 5 star Park Hyatt in the Maldives, Melbourne, NYC, ParisSydney, or Tokyo that would cost over $1,000/night, I can instantly transfer 25-40K points to Hyatt to do that, a value of up to 6 cents per point.
  • If I need a one-way flight from Cleveland (or Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Montreal, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc) to NYC that can cost $500 each way, I can instantly transfer 7.5K points to British Airways to book a short-haul on American with no last minute booking fees. Or if American doesn’t have availability I can instantly transfer 10K points to United for their short-haul award. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point.
  • Air Canada offers one-way short haul awards for just 6K miles. You can also get stopover awards for 5K miles, build round-the-world awards, and get free lap child awards in the US/Canada and bring lap children to anywhere else in the world for just C$25!
  • If I want to stay in a non-chain hotel that costs $300/night and don’t want to pay cash, I can redeem 20K points for the room thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 24K points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point
  • If I want to fly in a $30,000 ANA First Class Suite round-trip from the US to Tokyo, I can instantly transfer 145K-170K points to Virgin Atlantic. That’s a value of up to 21 cents per point. You can now redeem one-way awards for half the price as well!
  • If I want to book a $2,281 business class ticket on Air Canada to Tel Aviv I can redeem 152K points for the flight thanks to my Sapphire Reserve card’s minimum redemption value of 1.5 cents per point or 182K points with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card ’s minimum redemption value of 1.25 cents per point, plus I’ll earn Qantas miles for more future travel as it’s considered a paid flight instead of an award flight.
  • And thousands of other possibilities from Singapore couples suites to booking Southwest awards with 2 free bags and free cancellations, to stealing 2nd base in middle of an MLB game.

I upgraded freedom to Reserve about 6 months ago to utilize 1.5cpp on redemptions. Will they give me a problem downgrading ifnits less than a year? Im eligible to apply for this as I have not received SUB in 48 months and under 5/24

Aron

If I add an authorized user to my card, and they spend 4k do I get 80k points

Justmeha

Yes, you will receive 80k if you spend the 4k on an authorized user card and not on the main card

Esrs

In short, You can do the required spending with an authorized user card, if the primary card is new too.
If you already got the bonus on the primary, you won’t get another bonus just by adding a authorized user card

Sean

Dan, wouldn’t the earnings be more (5.5,3.3 etc) it’s 10% bonus on those base amounts

BaltimoreGuy

I just told a family member about this, but he said that literally yesterday, he got a Freedom Unlimited card (he already had a preferred). I wanted to tell him to downgrade his current preferred card to the Unlimited so he can sign up. What are his options? Can he have more than one unlimited card if he calls Chase to downgrade his current preferred card so he can sign up for this deal? Thanks

Danfan

I thought this was coming as chase already had a 80/90k bonus if you applied for the sapphire preferred at a chase branch.
btw if you use the card number in any grocery instead of giving the actual card, you’ll also get the 3 points on online grocery…

Thos Mans

How does that work? I am intrigued! You mean verbally give the number and have clerks type it in or what?

Curious

Yes.

Shmueli

I’m gonna wait for 100k like last time.
Hopefully

Justmeha

Kudos for mentioning the in branch offer

Travel

Which card should be used in israel for car rentals? Do not have sapphire which should be used?

Too late :(

I just applied for the card a week ago and got accepted. Has Chase historically approved the bigger bonus for recent applications?

Marc

Can one spouse transfer Ultimate Rewards to the other spouse? I have points, but I received the Sapphire bonus about a year ago. I’d like my wife to get a card and transfer the points to me.

Curious

What does it mean that they don’t pull the credit they just do a soft pull?

Shim

Not related to this post, we were told in December that Chase UR (CSR) would credit the PYB for the annual fee to the 1.5 rate if redeemed b4 12/31/2022, I just looked up and I do not see the credit, do you know where I can see or to whom should I reach out to? Secure Message?

esther12

if i downgrade my reserve card to a freedom now, should i wait 30 days and upgrade freedom to sapphire? or in order to get the bonus i have to apply with a new application?
p.s. i’ve had my reserve card for 4 years

esther12

can my 19 year old apply for sapphire card if this is her 1st real card? she only has one other card- chase student card.

Kay

If I downgrade my current preferred to unlimited. What happens to my points?

Israeli

The need to downgrade and then upgrade again makes this deal extremely undesirable. Many things can go wrong along the way given my prior experiences with these things.

MD

Hi Dan,
Have around 20k to pay taxes, which credit cards would you recommend to open? Already have 2 Chase preferred cards with my wife opened less than 3 years ago.
thank you

Freebie

@dan I have the sapphire prefered open back in October 21′. I called one rep they said i can downgrade but need to wait 48 months to be able open a new card. I called back and the rep said I can downgrade and bes to wait 30 days before opening a new card. Said I xan try afywr 3-4 days but best not to so no issues caused as the system may still see I had a sapphire card already.

Aby suggestions?

I have not downgraded yet as I am unsure if I used the card for a car rental which is being returned this week and the rep said that once is started downgrade process expiration date and ccv will change. So I am waiting out hoping I can still grab this deal (if I can do it 3-4 days from downgrading)

Freebie

I believe was that year 2021.

Where can I check?

Freebie

Looks like December 2021

Chim

BTW I called to downgrade my CSP to the freedom visa card but they told me they can only issue me the flex master card version of it

Danfan

There is no freedom any more, it’s either freedom flex or freedom unlimited

Manny

What’s the number to call chase in regards to the card?

frances

I got the bonus on the reserve on 03/2019, I guess I’m good to get the bonus again now, if I downgrade the card, and wait 2 days to apply for preferred?

Avi

What is the process to eventually get Reserve with this 80,000 promotion? I currently have neither cards

chaim

hi dan, I applied and its in review, would it help for me to call and what wud be the number? also any idea why I wouldnt get approved.. great credit report and never had this card..

Danfan

It can’t hurt to call, at least you’ll get the reason why it’s under review. if you are completely new to chase, that can be the reason.

ST

I have learned over the past few months, that if you’re willing to drive chase crazy and call again and again until you get what you want. Usually you will be able to. (With good credit and issues being rules etc.)

hershy

signed up for this offer 3-4 weeks ago, I secured messaged them, and they matched it!!!

Manny

They wouldn’t give up on the 5/24 rule even after I explained to them that one of those cards was a store card. Any other ideas?

Ben

Chase advised that I haven’t received a bonus since 2016. However, I have a Saphhire Card that was downgraded to a free one years ago. Would having that card stop me from getting a bonus?

Carol

I had some Chase credit card about 15 to 20 years ago. I had the card for a short
time and then they closed my card . I currently do have other major credit cards for
many many years with no problems. Do you have any suggestion on how I can proceed
in getting the Chase Sapphire card?

Does anyone have experience earning elevated grocery points with Israeli delivery services? My debate over opening this is whether I’ll earn for groceries in Israel

frances

i have just paid the big membership fee for my reserve….after a few years having it. Love the idea of downgrading and applying again in a few days. However, I will lose the membership money that has been charged already for the whole year. Is that still worth it?

flagie

I just missed the 90 days to spend the 6k on the ink card… Any ideas how to get a extension. I was to busy with all my 7 inks this one fell through the cracks

Hi Dan,

If I am signed up for saphire benefits like doordash and instacart what happens when I downgrade?

Ben

The new account bonus offer is a actually limited time offer which will only run from April 20, 2023 to May 25, 2023. Even if I would love to match your offer, our system will still reject the request as we are only allowed to do a manual adjustment on the offer if your account offer date is 30 days before the launch of this new offer. Sadly, your account did not meet this requirement. Your account open date is on February 27, 2023, the offer launch date was on April 20, 2023.

Leah

What does your credit score have to be at to apply?

Danfan

730 and up from my experience. if you have a relationship with them already you’re always better off

J30

If I apply for the sapphire and a business card on the same day would that be 1 or 2 credit pulls?

Abe2023

Any news if 5/24 is waived again

5/24

i got approved in 5/24 3 days ago

5/24

i got approved and i am in 5/24

Mordy

I heard that If I use my Sapphire to sign up for global entry I will get credited. Is that true?

Zack

If it’s a Sapphire Reserve. Not the Sapphire Prefferd though

Michael S

My wife is an authorized user on my Sapphire which I collected a bonus on.
Would she be eligible for bonus if she applies for her own account?

Danfan

Yes

Duvid

@dan
Is there such a thing as making too many applications? I applied once earlier this week but got denied. I realize it is because I probably have a Chase Sapphire currently. So I downgraded to a freedom. I waited a day and then reapplied and got denied again. Should I wait now a few more days or what are my other options

Duvid

?

Ben

@DansDeals Hey Dan I signed up to the Citi premier using your link a while back. I want to go on vacation with my wife departing from Israel. I was thinking South Africa. How would I do that with my thank you points? And other destinations you would recommend using my city points?

Danfan

Qantas/ELAL would probably be your best bet here

Let\'s go!

Applied, application in review, called chase and was approved with moving over credit lines. Thanks Dan! Now just need to figure out where to travel with the 80K points…

David

I applied for this credit card April 21 and still haven’t heard back. 5/24 does not apply to me and I have good credit. Is anyone else experiencing a delay in getting their new card approved?

Danfan

Why don’t you call?

Od

anyone got approved with an above 5/24 on a recon call?

OD

dan any thoughts on this?

Shmuel

Thank you Dan!
I applied for a Chase Sapphire 6 weeks ago, got a 60K bonus points. As per your recommendation, I called and they matched to 80K points. I never would’ve thought to ask- thank you so much!

Miri

I have had the regular Sapphire card for about 10 years, hardly ever use it. I went into the branch 4 days ago and had them switch it to a Freedom Unlimited. The banker told me that in 4 days she’ll call me to let me know when I can reapply for the Sapphire Preferred. She just called me and said she still doesn’t see the offer available on my account and that according to her colleague I need to wait ONE MONTH before I can get the Sapphire preferred because it takes that long for the credit bureaus to update it in their systems that I don’t have the Sapphire anymore. And she said I shouldn’t try to apply until she gives me the green light because that will have a negative impact on my credit score.
Does that sound right? Or should I try anyway or contact a different representative? I don’t want to wait that long, as I have a feeling the 80k sign up bonus will be over by then!
Please advise. Thanks!

John Doe

I was a Chase customer from May 2009 until they closed my account in October 2021. My checking always had a surplus, and my credit cards were always paid in full each month. Chase closed all my accounts, and of anyone living at any of my addresses. I never missed a payment, and always maintain impeccable credit. They gave no reasons, and no matter how many times I try to apply, I’m rejected.
Yes, I opened cards for points, but never more than anything normal. I don’t think I ever had more than 5 chase cc cards open at any given time, be they co-branded, Chase Business, or Chase UR.
What can I do to find out why to try resolving the matter?

Naftali

Have a chase Preferred with 150000 miles Should I upgrade to a reserve or get a new Reserve. Would the points change to 1.5? Thank you!

Danfan

The points will be worth 1.5 only if you plan on using the points on “chase travel portal” (not transfer partners) if yes, it’s definitely worth it, considering you take advantage of the $300 travel credit, but you can’t apply for reserve if you have the preferred, if you want to do that you first have to downgrade the preferred to freedom, once you have done that, you might be better off applying for the preferred under the current high bonus offer…

Yanky

Hi Dan,
I currently have a freedom and freedom unlimited. If I open the sapphire preffered (just to get the points) and close it within a year is that going to cause any trouble to my credit score?

Danfan

Don’t close after a year just downgrade it to freedom, you can have more than 1 freedom

Eric

I got the Chase Sapphire Reserve back in Nov 2016 (sign-up at the time was 100k) and still have the card. In order to get this 80K offer on the Preferred should I downgrade the Reserve first to a no-fee card and then apply for Preferred or apply for Preferred first and then downgrade the Reserve?

Newbie

Thank you Dan for putting in the info about the branch offer. Very impressed that you did that even though you lose the referral.

In general is it better to wait for a better bonus or to get at smaller because then you won’t have to wait as long to get the card again?

BaltimoreGuy

How soon is soon for this deal to be ending? Still finishing up some spending on two more ink cards. Was going to sign up for this card under my wife’s name as I already have the Reserve.

yoely

is there a way not to have to pay the annual fee

Menashe

@dan How do you know this offer is ending soon? And when is it ending? Why can’t you tell us?

esther12

i downgraded my reserve card on Thursday . How much longer should i wait to apply for preferred?

moshe

if i downgrade the card after spending 4000 in 3 months to a freedom unlimited do i still get to keep the points

chesky k

If i got the freedom unlimited in the last year can i still get the 80000 point bonus or its considered that i got a bonus in the last 48 months

The Righteous

Will you get approved for the sapphire even if you don’t have a other credit card for at least a year?

The Righteous

In dec 2021 I was added as an additional to someone else’s card and Aug 2022 I opened my first card. Will I get approved or I need at least a year of having my own card?

The Righteous

???
Brrrr ending soon….

esther12

downgraded my reserve card on Thursday to freedom, applied to preferred now and got denied. should i call recon tomorrow or what’s the best plan of action?
thanks!

mb

I got my bonus over 4 years ago but I upgraded to the reserve and then downgraded back to the preferred in the passed year. Am i still eligible?

Makir tovah

If I had a Preferred personal card within a year and canceled can I get the bonus on a Business Reserve card now?

BD7

I just downgraded my sapphire today to Freedom unlimited. Chase said I need to wait one billing cycle before applying for a new bonus. Is this true? If not when can I apply?

YG

I hope not! I just downgraded (5/22 1:41pm) and plan to apply in 48 hours.

CS

What was the outcome after waiting 48 hours?

YG

Just applied moments ago (28 hours later) and instant approval. I hope I get the 80k as some are seeing 80k, some 60k.

BD7

i was approved!

Yoval

Would chase send a card to an address in Israel? Also does the online grocery bonus count in isreal?

Apl

I forgot to downgrade my reserve before applying and I was denied. Can I downgrade now and call reconsideration or should I reapply?

Duvid

I had the same story. I forget to downgrade b4 applying.
So first I went down to the bank to see what they can do and then I kept calling the reconsideration department until one day I got an email that I was approved.

Jack

Got the chase sapphire preferred 9 years ago I still have it.
What should I do to get this offer?

Sn

Got my card, yay. Spending met, autopay setup. Next, thanks Dan

Joe

Two questions:
1) from what I gather, if I have the reserve, I can’t get the bonus unless I downgrade it to a freedom card, wait, and then apply for preferred?
2) my wife had a reserve and about a year ago downgraded to preferred. Can I downgrade the preferred to freedom and then apply for preferred?

Eli

I got my previous card more then 48 months but the bonus I got in the 48 months and got declined is there any chance?

Yiddle

Hey Dan, looking to transfer cc debt to another credit with 0 apr . Have 10k debt and wanna pay it off over extended time . Any suggestions?

a

Has Chase been approving people over 5/24 for this card?

??

I downgraded on Fri, 5/19, tried applying today and got “Thanks for your request. Unfortunately, we couldn’t approve your application” with excellent credit etc. Is that due to not enough time since the downgrade? Any way to find out?

Fafa123

Over 48 months so downgraded on Friday and reapplied today. Got the dreaded “we will think about it and let you know.” What should I say when calling in?

Fooz

My spouse is an authorized user on my reserve card. Does that disqualify him?

News at this all

Can I use the zero fee gift card Mastercards from staples to reach my spending threshold for my new sapphire preferred card?

renter

Is there a way to check online when I got the bonus last or you have to call up?

Dovid

It’s showing up as 60k for me

YG

I am seeing both 60k and 80k, dunno which to believe.

BaltimoreGuy

Applied Moitze Shabbos, it was put under consideration, got approved today. I’ll now more easily be able to transfer the 180,000 bonus points from the ink cards to this one. Shkoyach.

David

Unrelated Q,
When United offers me a Travel Credit if I cancel my flight, can I use it for anyone in my family or only the name of the original ticket?

David

Update; I called into United and was able to change my Ttavel Credit to a ETC

Barry D

How long from when you receive the approval of the credit card account email to when you receive the physical card to start spending?

Miri

I’m new to the Chase Preferred Card and have a question about optimal points usage.
If I want to book a flight, is it better to use points (transferred from my old Freedom Card) to book and get the 1.25 value of each point, or to pay with $ and book through the Ultimate Reward store where I earn 5x points on travel? To me it seems like 5x is more than 1.25 points, no? Why would it ever be worth it to use points to book travel rather than $? Or am I misunderstanding something?

jeff

i was impressed with the ease in getting this card. i was appvd in less than 15 seconds, rec’d it a week later in the mail. looking forward the bonus, as i never had a card with points like this. thank you.

G Shulman

We have the old no-fee Sapphire Chase card. (not available anymore ) We were told by Chase that we cant get a new Preferred Card while we still have that one. Our options are to either ask Chase to UPGRADE our card to the $95 annual fee Preferred card AND miss out on the signup bonus!(!) OR close the Sapphire we have and open a NEW Preferred card and earn the bonus. but mess with our credit rating ( and maybe have to WAIT before being able to open the new card (?) Either way, we give up our NO FEE SAPPHIRE card forever. IS that a great loss? What do you suggest? Thank You !!

Esrs

If I upgrade from the preferred to reserve, how much will they charge for an annual fee? Do they deduct the annual fee of the preferred?
