Is there a way to disable the sensors? Otherwise this could be a problem for שבת and יו״ט

You should obviously consult your LOR but the sensors might not be an issue if there is no visible change based on your presence – kind of like a surveillance camera which records but does not show on a video screen.
I have the Ecobee3 and there are definitely some more overt Shabbos challenges. By default, there is a standby screen which changes as you approach the device. You can tweak the settings to prevent this, though. Just a pain to do every Friday if you like to have those features during the week.
You can put a small piece of black electrical tape on it so sensor wont work on shabbos (black tape over black sensor)
