Samsung has just announced the Galaxy S9 and it’s one of the most incremental upgrades from the S8. It looks practically identical, the screen size is the same, the battery is the same, etc.

The camera adds some new features, but there’s no majorly compelling reason to upgrade from an S8 to an S9.

Perhaps the best S9 news is that you can catch some great deals on the S8 and S8+ right now. The S8 and S8+ are 2 of the best smartphones ever made.

The S8/S8+ on sale are Verizon branded, however they are unlocked and will work with most carriers worldwide, including AT&T and T-Mobile. The other carrier branded and unlocked phones are not on sale.

Too many people report that Samsung doesn’t accept the trade in. Doesn’t seem worth the risk

Ralph

@joe whay do you mean by that?

Joe

You can google “samsung trade-in scam” and see the complaints for yourself, and though Dan’s testimonial is meaningful, I didn’t want to take a $350 risk (which is what the trade-in offer for an S7 was last week).

only works for Verizon

Anybody recommend the premium care?

Would it work with Metro PCS sim cards? No contract sim card

Does it work with Sprint?

So what does it mean that it’s a Verizon phone? How can I be sure it works

Would the phone work with Sprint?

I have a pink line running down my screen on my s7 edge. Would that be disqualified from a trade in?

Myi

I would assume it’s considered a cracked screen.

Myi

A better understand you have a broken LCD which they’re going to view as a cracked screen which they don’t pay as much for as they view it as a crack screen.

mendy

will it work for sprint??

Shneur

Any reason my Cricket S7 won’t work for the trade in?

asi

You have it under Verizon. Its more expensive if you have Tmobile +no reference for trade in.

Sam

Whats the best value phone to buy off ebay for a trade in?

S

The s9 was just announced and you can get that on pre order on March 2nd I believe for $100 off, so $620 for the s9, $740 for the s9 plus. That should be unlocked, and it’s brand new phone on pre-order, you should get mid March. So once you’re spending this money, you should probably just spend a little more for the newer generation.

Any chance for trade in money for the Total Wireless ZTE Cymbal T 8GB Prepaid Smartphone, Black flip smart phone, that i bought on walmart.com for $59?

Dan, how long will this sale go on? also what credit card do you prefer the best as far as all benefits & if there is any current bonus category with any specific card? thanks!

How does this compare to the iPhone 8

David J

If I have a refurbished S7 Edge from Verizon (original S7 Edge had a hardware issue that did not allow me to upgrade my OS) with another year of payments to pay off the phone, would you recommend trading in the S7 Edge (has a cracked screen with NO color distortions and NO touch problems) for the S8? Let’s say they give me $100 for the S7 Edge. Will I still have to pay off the S7 Edge at the same time as paying for the S8?
Thanks in advance for your help.

mike

I ordered the phone. There was however no indication that I would receive a free pair of Gear IconX Bluetooth Earbuds. Please advise. thank you.

rediplus

if you use the Samsung 0% financing , thats a hard pull on your credit

Levi

Can you return the earbuds to samsung afterwards?

brodes18

My company had a $30 additional discount for Samsung. $150 trade in for an iPhone 6 got this down to $375

Will it work in Israel?

Michael

Would you pay with a Chase Ink Cash or rather stick to Amex for Warranty purposes?

חס על ממונם של ישראל

The price for an s8 just went down to $496 with this link.
I called Samsung and they will refund me $60 for a price match iyH.

Noam

I had it in my cart and when I went to place my order the cart changed to show a price of $643. I called Samsung and they said I waited too long – they said if I send a screenshot from an order placed showing that price they might be able to honor it as they are acting like it was never this price. Is anyone willing to share a screenshot to show the price you got (It was $496 this morning for S8).

חס על ממונם של ישראל

Sure. What’s your email address?

Noam

Thanks for the offer – called them again and they said will not honor the lower price as I should have bought it before the price changed. They just lost a customer that was about to finally switch from Iphone.

aharon E

I could use the screen shot, Samsung will price match for 14 days,.

Avi

Is this deal gone? The link gives the S8 it for almost $700 (not $556). Thanks!

Noam

Anyone interested in selling me their phone? Deal is done but would love to switch to S8 from iPhone

Avi

Deal still active?

Steven

Please help! I bought 2 of these–awaiting shipment next week. I’m on the Freedom (formerly WIND) network in Canada that apparently requires bandwidths of 1700 and 2100 and for LTE, band 66. Samsung’s website for the phone that was on sale does not include band 66 and only includes the 2100 bandwidth. The first lacky I spoke to said it won’t work while other websites that advertise this same Verizon model DO include band 66 and both bandwidths. Nu?

Steven

Just found out from a Freedom tekky who knows what she’s talking about. WIND JUST finished upgrading their network to accept not just Band 66 (T-Mobile’s S8 was the only one with this band) but Band 4, which includes ALL US carrier versions of the S8!!

Dan,
I ordered this phone back in February. It said it would ship the week of March 25. Now they are telling me April 15th. Any suggestions on how to get them to ship it. I have a sense that they are just pushing me out since when I called they suggested that I cancel an reorder (at a higher price) since the phones ordered now ship sooner.

Steven

I had the same thing. Just got them—shipped out before Good Friday. Be sure to use a regular wifi, not a shared one such as a hotel or it won’t work. Had to tether my wife’s phone to it to get it to begin the setup process properly.

Shimon

I just picked up the phone in the States and brought it to Israel. The Pelephone SIM is rejected because it is not Verizon. All your posts said it is unlocked and will work in Israel. Any advice?
