Update: It took a couple of weeks, but I finally did get the $40 credit on all of my AMEX cards including primary and secondary cards on which I spent $200 each at Lowe’s.
They do carry gift cards to many different stores like Amazon, Gap, Starbucks, and Subway.

The offer mentions the business platinum card, but in fact people are reporting that you can register and receive the credit when you make the purchase on any American Express card. Be sure to save the registration confirmation email in case of any problems.
You must spend at least $200 in one transaction by 11/15/11. You can buy Lowe’s gift cards to get up to $200 in a single transaction. The credit should post within 5 days of the purchase.

Registered my Starwood AMEX this morning then promptly spent $478 at Lowe’s this afternoon. Hoping that it will only cost $438!

when i got the confirmation email it did not say you must spend only in lowes. its mashma any store is ok.

I just registered my wife’s Starwood card that ends in a different number but is on my account. I happen to be buying more stuff in Lowe’s today so we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
When I went they were only offering lowe’s and some other cards. What kind of gift cards are people getting?
lowes in the 5 towns has a whole display of gift cards from many other stores as well.

I can confirm that it must be at lowes I registered my card and Got the confirmation email I then spent $200 at a pharmacy a week ago but I didn’t receive any kind of email saying that I made nesecarry purchases so I’m assuming it’s gotta be lowes
@Sam: I haven’t received my wife’s credit yet but the terms and conditions say that it can take up to 2 billing cycles. I reread the eligibility rules and it’s pretty clear that separate cardholders even under the same account are eligible. We’ll see what happens.

I signed up and spent the $200 on two cards (non business platinum cards). I received the original email confirming that I signed up.I have still not received a conformation email that others have received after they spend the money. I also did not received the credit, is the deal dead? I know I can tweet or email Amex, but that’s going to be a headache especially since I was not really eligible for the offer in the first place.

For me the email came about 3 days after I made my purchase and the rebate showed up in about 7 calendar days from initial purchase date. I did make my purchase a few days before the 8th so unsure of whether the deal is now dead.

You can buy Lowes gift cards online, but gift cards to other stores like Amazon can only be bought in-store.

I got the above lowes deal. when I went to lowes to buy my amazon gift card, they told me I couldnt buy gift cards with a gift card. I am going to return the gift card I bought..I iddnt receive any rebate from mastercard and I dont need $200 worth of anything at lowes!
