Why would they do this?
What do they gain?
They gain prime members using the video which they might not have otherwise done, and maybe they’ll poke around the video library a bit. This way, when time comes to renew their prime subscription, they’ll value it more highly and be more likely to renew.

Thanks for responding, but are you sure you read my question correctly? Because I don’t think it’s clear from the terms.
If I watch a Prime video (obviously with Prime account) and then my account is downgraded to regular, will the promotional credit be withdrawn.

Called up Amazon as it’s been 3+ days and no credit. I sent them a screenshot of the promo and they just applied the credit. Much easier than waiting for an email that may never come.
I followed your lead and was manually credited $5 as well.
I didn’t have that luck. I contacted customer service via chat. They asked me when I watched the video and said the email should arrive 7-10 business days after that. I’m still waiting :/
