These look just like a pair of shades that I bought for $7 at Walgreens, what am I missing?
A couple reasons come to mind.
$7 sunglasses can actually do more harm to your eyes and cause early blindness compared to wearing a pair of quality polarized sunglasses that will help prevent that. You can speak to an Ophthalmologist about that.
The $7 sunglasses may last a few months, I have had a pair of Maui Jims, they are in perfect condition and it’s been 11 years.
But you can def pick 4 pairs of polarized sunglasses for this price. That should last a few years.
Listen, I know these are expensive and it’s not for everyone. They also have 100 other styles to choose from and they offer prescription lenses.
But these rarely go on sale and for good reason.
They are simply better built and this polarization is different from others, it works better and looks better to the eye.
You say get 4 pairs for this price that last a few years, as I said I have one pair of Maui Jims I use regularly, in perfect condition, that I’ve had for 11 years.
Imo something are worth spending on and if you use sunglasses regularly, they protect your eyesight and that is definitely one of those things worth spending on.
You should get your sunglasses checked out at an optamologist office or sunglasses store. 11 year old glasses may not be blocking UV anymore
If I have glasses with a number, can I just buy that or I need a prescription?
Maui Jims are the best. I’ve never owned such a great pair of sunglasses. Is it a luxury product? Yes. But especially if you amortize the cost over decades like JJ is saying, Maui Jims are a bargain.
I also must comment that MJs are the best and worth it. When I got into cycling I discovered the difference quailty lenses make and since I have purchased two MJs for myself and one for my gf.
Also don’t trust everything an ophthalmologist tells you. Some say cycling is dangerous.
