I got an order in for one of these but then received a message today asking for me to cancel it by an intern that apparently messed up the price and is worried about their job. I’m a sap and don’t really need, so I am going to cancel. Message text below:

I received an email from Anna, an intern with the seller asking me to cancel my order. Email said she set the discount code incorrectly, the seller is losing money on the sale, and she might lose her job over it. Unfortunately, the item is already out for delivery today with USPS.
Did anyone get a strange email from the sender requesting the order to be canceled as this was a price mistake and their supposed job is on the line?

I got the same email, and I’ve never received anything like this before. I’m wondering what Amazon’s policy is. And mine also has already shipped, arriving tomorrow. Is it real or a scam?
The entire email is a lie, this is the exactly the same terminology I see in Chinese seller scams all the time. Absolutely no reason to give benefit of the doubt that it was a price mistake. And no one is getting fired, the seller wrote this email.
But what is the actual scam here? I checked on my Amazon account and the messages are there from the seller asking to cancel. Mine is also out for delivery, trying to figure out why they shipped if it’s a mistake instead of canceling.
I also got that email and also only after it shipped. I ordered it about a week ago and they only sent the email after it shipped. Sounds fishy.
@Dan can you please weigh in on this? You often write that deals are fine because the seller can always cancel the order. If the seller has the ability to cancel the order, why didn’t they do so over here?
I also received this email and I called Amazon Customer Service who responded that their email was very inappropriate and they will deal with the vendor, and I don’t need to do anything and to let the order be processed.
We also got the emails on both accounts after it was already shipped. An intern could, indeed, be slow in mailing out the email, but I am also curious as to Dan’s take on this. Until I got the email, I did not think the price was a mistake. I used the product before I saw the email. Excellent product.
