I think membership is refundable. I think you can cancel and get (most of? prorated?) your membership fee back. Then have another person in your household sign up with this special.

Do you know what the membership identifier is at Costco? Ie Sam’s is your email address. If you have a Sam’s membership you can get a new one with a promo offer by using a new email address.

I took my Groupon to Costco and the membership desk told me that my membership information is stored in their computer for 2 years ( or 18 months – or whatever) so that although I haven’t been a member for more than 6 months, I was still a “renewal”.
I took my chances. A few days later, I got an email reminding me to set up auto-renew. I was surprised by that because the guy had taken my email. But I made sure I was set up.
A week later, I got my $40 Costco Cash Card !!
