Iberia is offering 50% off the regular mileage requirements for flights booked through the end of August.

Travel is valid from September 1st-March 15th.

You can search for awards here.

Availability is excellent in all classes. Be sure to select flights operated by Iberia and not partner airlines like AA or BA. Select “Blue Class” if you want to fly in coach:

Most Americans can’t fly to Europe or Israel now, but you can book for travel through March 15th and hope for the best.

You can normally cancel and refund Iberia Avios awards for just €25 (about $29), but people have had success calling and getting that fee waived due to COVID-19. YMMV!

Here is sample one-way pricing between NYC and Madrid or Tel Aviv after 50% off. The same rates should apply from Chicago as well. The flights to Tel Aviv are via Madrid and widebody A330s with lie-flat business class seats are available on all of these flights:

JFK to Madrid:
Economy: 8,500 Avios + $57.29
Premium: 12,750 Avios + $57.29
Business: 17,000 Avios + $69.09

Madrid to JFK:
Economy: 8,500 Avios + $93.36
Premium: 12,750 Avios + $93.36
Business: 17,000 Avios + $105.16

JFK to Tel Aviv:
Economy: 14,000 Avios + $110.90
Premium: 18,250 Avios + $ 110.90
Business: 27,650 Avios + $ 134.50

Tel Aviv to JFK:
Economy: 14,000 Avios + $144.91
Premium: 18,250 Avios + $144.91
Business: 27,650 Avios + $168.51

Post what other deals you find to other cities!

You can transfer AMEX or Chase points to Iberia at a 1:1 ratio or Marriott points to Iberia at a 60K:25K ratio.

You can also transfer British Airways Avios into Iberia Avios, but both accounts have to have been open for 90 days and both accounts must be active. Transfers from AMEX or earning miles from other sources activate an account. You can combine points via this link via the BA site. Sometimes that link doesn’t work so you can also try this link on the Iberia site to combine points.  If you don’t have an account it’s a good idea to open one now here to allow you to make transfers in the future. You can also call BA to transfer Avios to Iberia.

You can earn up to 100K bonus Iberia Avios on the Chase Iberia card.

Will you book travel with this promotion?

Shame it’s not available for Pesach. We flew TLV-MAD-BOS in J a few years ago. Very comfortable lie-flat seats on both legs.

aaron

im seeing 28,000 in blue class from TLV-JFK in early march.
What am I missing ?

JayBee

Dan, I just opened an Iberia account. Do you have to have points in the account to get search results?

No matter what dates and cities I use I get no results. I’m specifically trying to find a 1-way flight from MIA or JFK to TLV for 9/2 striving no later than 9/3.

aaron

I think they already canceled all flights to TLV thru September.

joel

what means account needs to be active ? when does activity have to have been ?

rediplus

any EWR availability to Madrid ?

MosheD

Are you saying no partners because of YQ or because the promotion does not apply?

...

Was successful after multiple HUCA getting Iberia to rebook us on LY in J at beginning of corona when flights were first being canceled.
Best of luck….

nanach

Yitz

Alex

Transferring avios form BA to IB is currently down

David

Dan , there reg rate is also only 55k for one way busniess, isn’t that a great value vs what united is charging on partners?

PD

Can’t seem to see Iberia operates flights out of LAX in October. Checked London as destination and even Madrid! Is that possible? What routes do they have out of LAX?

pdfan

plus 1 if you can tell me what routes they have out of lax also, thanks pd. r

Izz

Madrid would be their only destination from all US hubs. It is possible that LAX is on hold until demand returns.

Valentin

Have no read all comments, have not been aware they are not flying from Texas. Only transferred 1000 miles from AMEX, but they have not posted yet.

Mendy

Anyone know their infant policy on mileage ticket? And if it is possible to bring a car seat in business class?

YoLaViajera

I could fly to Spain tomorrow if I wanted to since I’m an EU citizen. And my parents live there and I haven’t seen them in almost two years (and they haven’t met their new grandson yet!). So I have plenty of reasons to jump on this fantabulous deal. However, I’m not going to. Why? Because all signs point to a second wave starting up in Madrid, and possibly other cities. Spain reopened too fast and family/friend gatherings are what Spain is ALL about, so culturally this is incredibly difficult to contain. Although therapeutics everywhere are much better now that even a few months back, and fewer people are dying from covid, frankly I’d rather not get it. I’d rather just get the vaccine. So I’m gonna wait this one out even though this one hurts…. I also want to travel when Spain is back up and running and fun. Right now, it’s not as much fun as usual.

Jacksassonbk

Fantastic. Thank you @dan

Zalc

Seing some dates at 34k one way NYC-MAD (Feb 20)
Did the sale end?

Zalc

Disregard… I was looking at March 20 2021 after the same ends.

I have a longstanding and active BA Avios account — and I’ve set up a household account for my family around it. I also have an Iberia Plus account, which has 400 miles in it. But I don’t use that account on a regular basis. I’ve tried moving my BA miles to my Iberia account to redeem this award but the BA website keeps giving me error messages. Am I eligible to move these miles, and is there a way to get someone at BA to help me do it? It doesn’t look like the online tool will work. Thanks.

iahphx

I was able to call BA at 877-767-7070, press “something else” and get a BA rep to transfer my BA miles to Iberia. If the agent you reach isn’t confident in their ability to do this, tell them you’ve done it before and have them get supervisor help if they need it. It doesn’t seem to be an impediment anymore that my BA account is set up as a household account. I did previously have 400 Iberia points in my account, but I haven’t used that account in at least 2 years, and that wasn’t an obstacle, either. BTW, if you’re headed to TLV, it is not more miles to book your JFK-MAD and MAD-TLV flights separately if you want a stopover in MAD. A pretty good idea given that the MAD outbound layover was lengthy on the days I checked (morning arrival at MAD, evening departure for TLV). As you noted, there is good award availability. I did have to take a coach seat from TLV to MAD on the return, but that’s probably because people are trying to get close to the March 15 expiration date in search of better weather. If you book one segment in coach and one in business, it adjusts the price so you pay less and don’t pay for a biz class seat you don’t have. Here’s hoping that COVID or some other unknown issue doesn’t ruin my travel plans next year!

Liraz

Can you please clarify? If I Just opened an Iberia account can I transfer amex or chase and book? Is the 90 day wait just for BA avios transfers?

bigdipper8545

Just booked 3 tickets in business. Amex took about 12 hours to transfer. Does Iberia have good kosher meals?

S

I am searching for NYC-TLV in early January, and the Iberia operated flights are coming up at 40,650 in business plus $134. What am I doing wrong?

shavuatov

can you keep moving miles back and forth between iberia and BA? How long does the transfer take? (Also, when i spoke to BA they said my email must match on both accounts and that would take up to 3 days to approve the update!)

S

This sale ended yesterday, Dan made a mistake in the post writing it was through the end of August
