Update: As expected, IHG’s partnership with Mr. & Mrs. Smith has been terminated. Existing reservations will be honored. Here’s hoping Hyatt will start something exciting soon!

Konnichiwa from Kyoto, and thanks to everyone who has been following my travel on Instagram stories on an international trip that I booked less than 24 hours before the flight. But that’s a story for another time!
Hyatt is one of my favorite hotel chains, so I’m excited that they announced they will be acquiring the Mr. and Mrs. Smith hotel booking platform for £53.0 million.
Hyatt members will soon be able to book stays at the Mr & Mrs Smith collection of over 1,500 boutique and luxury hotels.
I’d assume that their current affiliation with IHG will end shortly. While not all Mr & Mrs Smith properties are bookable with IHG points, the ones that are bookable are a good value.
Hyatt writes that they are “exploring ways to enable World of Hyatt members to earn and redeem points across eligible hotels in the Mr & Mrs Smith collection.”
The value of those redemptions remains to be seen, but it’s an exciting development nonetheless. Hopefully, some of the affiliated hotels will also choose to be directly managed by Hyatt for more integrated program benefits.

I’m concerned what will happen to my September Booking with points in Reykjavik. It’s about half what the retail price would be.

Any particular hotel in highly populated Jewish vacation spots (ex: Miami, Israel, Cancun, Purto Rico, etc.) we should anticipate for?
A few notable ones I came across: Asbury Ocean Club NJ, the Rockaway, NY, La Mamounia, Marrakech. Not necessarily highly Jewish areas, just convenient to be aware of.
A few in South Beach, 2 in TLV, 1 in Negev, and the Rosewood Mayakoba.
Any news on what this means for existing IHG points bookings? That’s likely top of mind for most right now

Our partnership with Mr & Mrs Smith is coming to an end.
We are no longer accepting bookings for stays at Mr & Mrs Smith properties. If you already have an upcoming reservation confirmed, your booking will not be affected and you will still be eligible to earn points on the stay. You can review and manage your reservation in your IHG One Rewards account and on the IHG One Rewards app.
