Update: While most cancellations of price mistakes happen within a few days, Hyatt waited 3 weeks before emailing members that they would not be honoring these bookings.
That’s very disappointing from a chain that has traditionally honored bookings like these and waiting this long means that there are likely people that booked non-refundable travel around this stay. If you did that, be sure to let Hyatt know and ask what they plan on doing after waiting 3 weeks to cancel these reservations.

Hyatt is bringing their 1st Andaz property to Mexico City, with reservations being accepted starting 1/18/23. The hotel will feature a 17th floor rooftop pool and modern rooms just a block from Parque México and a 12 minute walk from the Jewish Community Center Condesa.
Mexico City has a very large Jewish community with many kosher restaurants. Read more on DDF here.
The category 4 Andaz normally goes for 12K-18K points per night for a regular room or 21K-27K points per night for a suite.
Suite upgrades at Hyatt hotels start at 6,000 points per night plus the cost of a room, however the Andaz Suite is bookable for just 6,000 points plus just $39 on nearly all dates from January through November 2023!
The refundable rate for base rooms is over $300 and the refundable rate for the suite is over $600 after taxes.
To book this rate, just click on view points and keep scrolling right until you get to the Lg Suite Pts Upgrade:

The cancellation policy on dates that I checked for this rate was no charge as long as you cancel 48 hours prior to arrival, so there’s not much to lose by trying to book this. Just be sure to confirm the policy for your dates.
Hyatt typically honors deals like this, but I’d advise waiting a few days before booking non-refundable travel to go along with this.

For the most part, Mexico City, Cancun/Playa, and Cabo are considered safe, but obviously nothing is ever totally “safe” and you should travel smartly.
What does travel smartly mean? I’m not mocking, just want to hear if you have any insight in this area?

Is fine as you don’t do drugs and walk late at night or go explore unknown neighborhoods. Just like you would do in any USA city.

Just received an email from hyatt consumer affairs. They are saying it was a mistake on their end and they are canceling the reservation. Uhhhh!
