IHG: Get 100% bonus points through 11/3.

An IHG account is required, you can join here for free.

IHG normally sells points directly for 1.15 cents each. You can also transfer points from Chase, but that’s a criminal use of Chase points. Of course there’s a hack to buy their points at .7 cents each but with the current sale you can buy them directly for less than that without jumping through hoops. And that hack requires that you have points to start with.

Points are on sale for just 1 cent each and IHG will also double all the points you purchase. To get the lowest rate (.5 cents per point) you’ll need to purchase at least 26K points which will be doubled to 52K points for $260. Of course you’ll also earn points on your credit card which will make the effective rate less than .5 cents per point.

You can purchase 60K points per member per year, so you can get up to 120K points with this promotion which would cost $600.

Note that IHG points require activity every 12 months, but you can just redeem for a hotel award and cancel it to extend the expiration for another 12 months.

IHG runs PointBreaks which allows you to book rooms at rotating hotels for just 5,000 points per night. That’s just $25 for a room if you buy points at .5 cents each. Those hotels rotate every couple of months.

If you have an IHG card you’ll get 10% of your points back, dropping the cost to just 4,500 points or $22.50 with this promotion.

Plus you don’t pay tax on award nights.

There are also good values to be had at high-end properties in NYC, London, Paris etc. For example an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora can go for as much as $1,000 with tax but costs just 60K points. That’s just $300 at .5 cents per point. IHG cardholders would pay just 54K points after the rebate.

There are several IHG hotels in Israel. They won’t necessarily be a deal with this promotion, but they may be depending on the price of your desired travel dates.

  • Crowne Plaza Jerusalem: 20K ($100)
  • Crowne Plaza Dead Sea: 25K ($125)
  • Crowne Plaza Eilat: 25K ($125)
  • Hotel Indigo Tel Aviv Diamond District: 25K ($125)
  • Crowne Plaza Haifa: 30K ($150)
  • Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv Beach: 30K ($150)
  • Crowne Plaza Tel Aviv City Center: 30K ($150)
  • InterContinental David Tel Aviv: 40K ($200)

Of course those rates will be 10% lower if you have an IHG credit card.

The Chase IHG card is offering 60K points after spending $1,000 within 3 months. You can also get an additional 5K points for adding a free additional user card.

You can view credit card offers by hovering over the “Credit Cards” tab. You can then view hotel cards “Hotel Credit Cards“ or you can choose to view “credit cards from all banks.

The card’s $49 annual fee is waived for the first year.

The Chase IHG card is not subject to the Chase 5/24 guidelines, so you can get approved even if you have 5 or more approved consumer card applications within the past 24 months.

You can get the signup bonus as long as you haven’t received an IHG signup bonus within the past 24 months.

An excellent perk of the card is the annual free anniversary night that is valid at any IHG in the world. The free night can even be used at Intercontinental hotels where hotel rates are normally up to $1,000 or 60K points per night in places like Bora Bora, London, Hong Kong, etc. It’s worth hanging onto the card just for this perk alone.

IHG cardholders also get Platinum IHG elite status and they get a 10% rebate on all points redeemed, making 5K hotels cost 4.5K and top-tier 60K hotels cost 54K points.

Hey dan, are those points ex 30k for Tel Aviv beach to they apply in hush season aswell?

Dina

Just curious y I shouldn’t transfer chase points to IGH hotel- was about to do that? And what abt chase points for car rental- is that worth it?

Y

When I log into IHG it shows 26k points being sold for $299 and 60k points for $690. This is a 57.5 cpp valuation. Is there anything else to do to get 50cpp?

Joyce M.

Same here.

Dan – I am headed to Israel for the first time in 26 years and going to use IHG points. Which is your preferred IHG in Tel Aviv? And, how is the Crowne Plaza in Jerusalem? Thanks in Advance

Harry

Hi. If you have enough points the David InterContinental is a great hotel in a very good location. Opposite the ocean, a short walk to Jaffa and the center of Tel Aviv, within a few minutes walk of the old revitalized areas of Tel Aviv. Comfortable and upscale. I like the CP in Jerusalem a lot. Even though it is close to the entrance to the city it is quiet and if you get a room on a high floor the views are supherb. Staff are friendly and anxious to help.

Enjoy your visit. Israel has really changed a lot over the past 26 years.
The Crown Plaza Jerusalem is a very decent hotel. I would give it 3.5/4 stars. Only drawback is it’s location, not near anything touristy.

AYid

Should I exchange my IHG points for United points to get the current %30 bonus?

Hannah

Logging into my account, it is 52000 points for 299
That is 5.75 a point
How can I get points for .5

Larry

Appears to be yet another targeted campaign. I see the discounted price on my account but the normal price on my wife’s. Either you get it or you don’t.
