JetBlue launched a completely revamped elite status program earlier this year and they have announced a few improvements, including one potentially major improvement.

Currently, upgrades for Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 members into MINT class cost 1 certificate domestic or 2 internationally, and are only confirmed within 24 hours of a flight. Next year, there will be a variable cost between 1 and 4 certificates for an upgrade, but it will be confirmed immediately upon booking! That’s an incredible new benefit.

Other new benefits are described below with how the program works.

The TrueBlue program works with points that can be redeemed for award flights, and tiles (Get it? Mosaic tiles) that earn Mosaic elite status.

  • You will earn 1 tile (in addition to regular points) for every $100 (excluding taxes and fees) spent on:
    • JetBlue flights (including many extras & fees)
    • JetBlue Vacations
    • Paisly by JetBlue
  • You will earn 1 tile (in addition to regular points) for every $1,000 spent on:
    • All JetBlue cards

Points from partner airlines and all other sources will not earn tiles.

  • JetBlue will once again have 4 Mosaic tiers in 2024:
    • Mosaic 1 requires 50 tiles.
    • Mosaic 2 requires 100 tiles.
    • Mosaic 3 requires 150 tiles.
    • Mosaic 4 requires 250 tiles.
  • Mosaic 1 benefits include:
    • 2 bags, 70 pounds each, are free for you and your companions.
    • Free inflight alcoholic drinks, though starting on 1/1/24 you’ll be limited to 3 free drinks per flight.
    • 5,000 bonus points if you didn’t pick it as a perk already.
    • Even More Space at check-in for you and companions.
    • Free same day flight changes for you and companions
    • Mosaic check-in, security, and boarding for you and companions
    • Dedicated Support Line
    • Complimentary upgrade to Business First on the Heathrow Express train
    • New: All Mosaic members will be eligible for an Avis status match later in 2024, though the details haven’t been announced yet.
  • Mosaic 2 benefits include the above and:
    • Even More Space at booking for you and companions
  • Mosaic 3 benefits include the above and:
    • 4 one-segment space available MINT upgrade certificates
    • New: In 2024 a top-tier phone line for Mosaic 3 and Mosaic 4 will be available.
  • Mosaic 4 benefits include the above and:
    • 2 additional one-segment space available MINT upgrade certificates
    • 4 one-way BLADE Airport helicopter transfers between Manhattan and JFK or EWR
    • New: In 2024, gift Mosaic 1 status to a friend.

JetBlue also allows non-Mosaics to select benefits after they reach every 10 tile thresholds.

  • They can choose from the following perks (limit 1 of each perk for year) at every 10 tiles collected:
    • Group B boarding on every flight you take for you and companions
    • Priority security on every flight you take for you and companions
    • Free inflight alcoholic drinks, though starting on 1/1/24 you’ll be limited to 3 free drinks per flight.
    • 5,000 bonus points
    • 2X points bonus on a JetBlue Vacations package (one-time use)

Mosaic members will also be able to select Perks You Pick (limit 1 of each perk for year) at every Mosaic tier that they qualify for, starting with Mosaic 1 qualification.

  • Perks You Pick include:
    • FoundersCard Blue Membership
    • Pet Fee Waiver ($125 value) on every flight you take
    • $99 one-time statement credit for JetBlue Plus or Business Card, valid once per year.
    • Boost your TrueBlue balance with 15,000 bonus points.
    • Mint Suite® Priority for you and companions
    • New: IHG Platinum status
    • Get or gift a 20-tile boost to get to the next level—and more perks—faster.
      • New: In 2024 you will both get and be able to gift a 20 tile boost to a friend with this selection!

Perks earned are valid until the end of the following calendar year, regardless of when you select which perk you want. You can’t change your perk once you select it. Perks aren’t transferrable, except for the Mosaic 20 tile gift.

These are all nice benefits, though JetBlue’s Achilles’ heel is their lack of partner airlines and alliance, especially with the loss of American as an elite reciprocity partner. JetBlue’s operational reliability is also not what is used to be. The program’s other problem is the lack of first class on most JetBlue flights, making elite status less compelling than what other airlines have to offer. However, with other airlines selling more of their first class seats for cash, maybe this isn’t a big differentiator, though it’s still an aspirational part of elite status.

JetBlue’s Mosaic on the DL status match still appears to be alive, which is a great opportunity for Delta elites to try out Mosaic status. Top-tier elites will even receive 20K bonus points, 6 Mint upgrade certificates and 4 helicopter rides in 2023, and another 6 Mint upgrade certificates and 4 helicopter rides in 2024!

I have mosaic status. The best thing when flying with a family is the free extra legroom and they won’t weigh your bags.

what does it mean, “Next year, there will be a variable cost between 1 and 4 certificates for an upgrade”

They have gone from being one of the best airlines to fly, to now being one of the worst. I’ve flown with them multiple times this year and each experience was horrible. They have cut the legroom and seat space to one of the smallest in the industry, they nickel and dime as much as spirit (but don’t claim to be a budget airline as spirit does), their staff is incredibly obnoxious and rude, and almost every flight has been delayed – some multiple times. Stay away from Jetblue if you can!
