About Silvercar:

Silvercar is a new-age car rental company. Since I first wrote about Silvercar I’ve received lots of rave reviews from readers thanking me for introducing them to Silvercar. Share your experience in the comments!

I rented from them in Miami on a 2 day trip last August, and though the weather wasn’t, the car rental was a real treat. I called them upon landing and they picked me up from the terminal so that I was able to avoid taking the train to them. After the rental they dropped me off in my rental car right back to the terminal.

The only car they rent is the fun to drive, all-wheel drive Audi A4. It comes with built-in GPS, satellite radio, bluetooth, leather seats, and even a free WiFi hotspot. Unlimited miles are included in every rental.

You can even request car seats at no additional charge!

You can rent from Silvercar as long as you are at least 22 years old with no underage fees.

I rented a car from Avis in Miami earlier last year and got hit with a $17.20 bill for a two 70 cent tolls that I apparently passed on SR112. That’s $1.40 for the tolls and $15.80 for an “eToll Convenience Fee.” Convenient for whom is the question?

Silvercar only passes on the toll itself, no convenience fees!

If you don’t refill the fuel you’ll only be charged a $5 flat rate fee on top of the actual local price of the gas needed to fill up the car. No need to jeopardize missing your flight just to avoid paying $10/gallon for fuel.

Both AMEX and Chase cover the CDW insurance for a Audi A4, just select personal coverage when renting.

You only pay when you pickup the car, nothing is charged beforehand and there are no cancellation fees ever.

Does anyone know how additional drivers work with silver car? They say the name of the credit card must match the drivers license so if I want to use my wife’s credit card can I just add her as an additional driver?

Trying to sign up

The sign up link is broken

Dan

@Dee:
You can add her when you pickup the car.

@Trying to sign up:
Should be working now, but the main thing is step 2. If you don’t do that you won’t get the $25 bonus.

Avrohom

The new CSR card offers 30% silver car; might be worth mentioning.

Dan

@Avrohom:
Added, thanks.
It doesn’t seem to need the CSR as payment, has anyone tried renting without it?

Dave

You say in your post 2 days should cost 84.11 for 2 days or $42.055 per day.
Why when i reserve for 7 days Sept 21-28 at FLL does it come to $49
or $411 for the 7 days?

Thx

Matt

@Dan How long does it typically take for this to occur after a rental has been completed? – “The $25 will sent to you via a Visa eGift card after your rental.”

Hello!
I do not have any Personal coverage.
I do not have any Corporate coverage.
The only other option (and you must choose an option) is Silvercar coverage.
In Silvercar coverage there are 3 options:
1. You and your things
2. Just the car
3. Other people and their things
You also have the option to choose all 3 Silvercar options if you want.
Help!! Not sure what Im supposed to be doing here!
Thanks. Will be booking with CSR

Dan

@anonymous:
A credit card is personal coverage.

Anonymous

@Dan: Thanks for the reply!
But when you opt for personal coverage you are prompted to:
1. Enter Insurance Carrier
2. Enter Policy Number (optional)

What would I put under Enter Insurance Carrier if my credit card is my personal coverage?

Any insight?

(Really helpful that you follow posts from a while ago if someone has questions on it. Thanks!)
