United tells me that they will be matching American and Delta’s permanent elimination of change fees on international tickets!

While American’s policy applies to all tickets that originate in North or South America, Delta’s policy only applies to tickets that originate in North America and United’s policy will only apply to tickets that originate in the United States.

Basic economy fares will continue to have change fees, as that will become a major differentiation point between fares. I’d imagine that in the future the pricing gap between regular economy tickets and basic economy tickets will grow to make up for change fees.

United also tells me that all tickets booked through 3/31/21 will have no change fees, regardless of the point of origin or if it’s a basic economy ticket.

So tickets EWR – TLV will have no change fees since its originates un the US?

Keep in mind that they DO have a fare difference payment and thus booking a very cheap price without being sure of the dates will almost always (still) result in losing your bargain. While this is logical and obvious it is important to bear in mind.

What about if you book a domestic flight and that flight or a similar flight decreases in price? Are they going to allow you to recoup the difference as a united credit?

So with all of these carriers, full cancelations are still not free, correct?
