Marriott’s official Instagram page says that if you follow them by 6/21 and enter your email address via this link that you will get 500 points.
Just scroll down the page to where it says “Enter the email address associated with your Rewards account”
It doesn’t seem there’s any possible way for them to verify that you follow them with the way it’s setup.
It also doesn’t say how long it will take for the points to post, but when they do it will extend the life of your Marriott points for 24 months.
Marriott is in the process of merging with Starwood, though the loyalty programs won’t be merged until 2018. If you collect Starpoints but don’t have a Marriott account it can be worth opening an account and taking the free points as they will merge by 2018. It’s also likely that points will be able to be transferred back and forth before that point. It’s still unknown at what ratio Starpoints will be valued at compared to Marriott points.

With Marriott social media points do not extend expiry, I think (or so their conditions officially say)
