how do we apply for additional passport pages?

hey dan

Do they have to be postmarked by July 13th or in their office by then? I want to mail my passport back for more pages.

Joey

Quick, if anyone wants to renounce their citizenship… it goes from FREE to $450!!! Are we really proud? Happy Independence day!!!!

Why pay $5 for passport photos? You can easily make then at home with any digital camera and print them for a fraction of the cost.

a

can anyone add pages, or do you have to have less than 4 empty pages?

moses

@a: @yosel:
ANYONE?

Fred

Does anyone know if you can do this if you are currently using the passport?

Patricia

This is a great website for DIY passport photos:
http://www.epassportphoto.com/

I’ve used it to do my kids’ photos as well as my own with a regular $70 digital camera, printed them out at CVS or Rite Aid, and had no problems having them accepted!

You can add pages at any time, no restriction I am aware of. Dunno about fees but I can advise you it is a LOT easier to do it at any US Consulate overseas. In the US you have to mail in. At a US Consulate it is usually done in 1 hour, or at worst you leave it and it will be ready later in the same day.

Peter

P.S. I’ll add my opinion that it’s a real joke to charge 82 bucks for extra pages. What work is involved? Nothing at all above taping in a booklet and stamping it. They justify all the other fees (and Visa fees for foreigners) with the extra background checks they need now. So what’s so special about extra pages?

Emily

When is the renewal fee going up?

Freddie

@yosel: Instructions over here: http://travel.state.gov/passport/correcting/add/add_850.html

A much quicker way to do it is to have it done while you wait at a US embassy or consulate in a foreign country… I should have taken care of this a few weeks ago in Europe…oh well

According to http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/correcting/add/add_850.html “IF: You have less than 2 to 4 Visa pages remaining in your passport book” or “IF: You travel extensively and are applying for a new passport book”. Those are the only two options I see for applying for new pages, but I think I’m going to send mine in and see what happens.

ShmuliT

@Patricia: Have used them in the past as well.

@APoshiterYid:
I think it’s just a guideline as to when you need to get new pages added.
I do believe that they will add more pages for free even if you have more than that empty.

abe

Just spoke to the Consulate in Jerusalem they will add more pages if you need it. Normally you need to make an appointment the problem is there are no appoinments avail till after the 13, but they are having special passport days on july 12 and the 21 copy this link and follow instructions I sent them all info via fax asking them to do it before the 13 and received a call in less then 5 min and got an appointment on the 12 http://jerusalem.usconsulate.gov/passports/passport-day.html
