anyone had success getting the af waived if you got the card before the offer was around?
I’d argue that the Everyday Preferred is better for groceries. To me, 4.5 MR points is worth more than 6% cash. Of course, you have to do 30 transactions a month to get the full 4.5 points.
4.5 points is marginally better than 6% for some people, but the headache of needing 30 transactions takes away the small advantage for most people, especially now that AMEX has a card that gives 2 points per dollar on everyday purchases without a 30 transaction requirement.
I usually have no problem getting the 30 transactions between groceries and small charges like parking meters so most of my spend is 4.5X. But YMMV.

presumably one can buy gift cards at a grocery store (amazon, ebay, starbucks, etc) – even if you don’t spend $500 a month on groceries. there is no such max limit on gas, as far as I can tell, but someone can perhaps confirm if I am wrong. great card, this.
