Delta is currently releasing a decent amount of award space to their partner airlines on their JFK-Tel Aviv route.
The value of using miles is especially good when you just want to book a one-way ticket. Those come in handy if you can find award space or only have enough miles on another airline for a one-way ticket, or if you just need a one-way ticket for any other reason.
You won’t want to use Delta miles for a one-way JFK-Tel Aviv ticket:

I see a flight TLV –> JFK on 4/27/19, and although it is showing on Delta for 29,000 miles, it’s adding $62.14 in fees (not the $10 as noted above)
Taxes departing Israel are higher. Still a bargain.
I now see when you go to the next page to select flight, it shows the correct amount of fuel surcharges.
There are no fuel surcharges on Delta flights, just taxes.
It’s showing me a $111 surcharge instead of $10.

How about business class seats?
Dirty secret is that DL now is requiring 90 days advance booking in order to get the low rates. This seems to be another thing they are hiding.
If you find a flight with 90 days notice the inventory should match (mileage might be different, but you can get low DL)
Also – easier to search on Virgin website since AF website doesn’t seem to provide the DL flights on the calendar — you have to click through on the date to see the DL flights

I have never flown to israel on a non-elal flight…what’s the deal with putting on tefillin for shacharit? I don’t suppose this would be a Gr8 thing to do on a (for example) royal jordanian flight….what’s ur advice? Some airlines more accomodating then others?

I’ve never had a problem on any airline. Usually most people are asleep anyway.
I fly quite a couple of times a year with different airlines including Royal Jordanian Airlines and I always put on tefillin and daven in my seat (which is usually an exit) and I never had a problem with either the airline or people on the flight(much to because I don’t bother anyone)

Royal Jordanian is a very pleasant way to fly. They use new Dreamliners from New York to Amman, offer kosher food, two pieces of checked baggage and polite staff!
