I never had the chance to go on a Birthright trip, but tens of thousands of American Jews travel to Israel annually with Birthright on the ultimate deal, an all-inclusive trip with all expenses paid.

Since it was founded in 1999, trips have been free for Jews between 18-26. Per the WSJ, that window will now be expanded to 18-32 year olds. You’ll be able to travel for free as long as you haven’t turned 33 yet.

Have you been on a Birthright tour? Will you go now that the age group has been expanded?

Cool! I’m 19 and not rushing, but I’m sure I can benefit in other ways…

Slim

Listen to Dan. Get over here sooner.

Elise

OMG! This is “min hashamayim.” How does one who is 30 apply?

Slim

Same way the one who is 18 would 🙂

Staffed 6x and did Birthright Fellows. Will be the best time of your life. I’m told the expanded age group will be a pilot and registration for summer trips opens at the end of January. The orthodox providers are the OU-IsraelFreeSpirit, Mayanot (Chabad) and Ezra World. All of the above have single gender as well as mixed trips. I believe Ezra even runs a trip for married couples.

Would love to take a family trip 3 kids under 22! They could go free and we have to pay but so what.

Mbelsky

Can married couples bring kids if they pay for them? I’m assuming no….

A.B.

Definitely not they don’t allow alot of stuff “even if u pay for them”

Berta

Can someone go again?

Chabadrox

Does birthright (still?) have the policy of no free trip to those that have been to Israel before?

Slim

You could have been in Israel. Even went to Yeshiva. You just could not have been on any official tour of the land.

A. Rosenblum

Even if you did a group trip, if it was before age 18 you still qualify.

u

no if u were in yeshiva in israel for more than 3 months u are ineligable

Eli

Went when I was 18 in 2002. It was a group for yeshiva bochorim. We even had a mashgiach! Had a great time.

I thought you meant you have to be now 26 to go.
That’s what it sounded like from the title.

I was a bit over the age limit when Birthright came out, and was disappointed. If the age limit had been 32 I’d have been thrilled to go. I’ve encouraged everyone who qualifies not to squander the opportunity.

Yaakov

If I’ve been to Israel for school would I still be eligible for birthright?

Shaul

As of a few years ago, going on a MASA accredited program would disqualify you if it were when you were above 18.

Yaakov

What’s masa?
