Boomie

I’d be interested to know what the best deals are to Israel in Business or First class. Anyone have any ideas?

Dan

@Boomie: By opening credit cards!

question

Dan,
how can you be sure that this flight earns full miles? Last time i booked a ticket via orbitz i only got SOME of the miles (later on i found out that it was a DDF, or deep discounted fare. ) how can I be sure this won’t happen now?

dovid

what notes?

“Tickets are sold by Iberia, but flights can be on American, El Al, or Iberia. Read the notes closely!”

sam

only these dates? or are these just sample dates?

bob

Hey boomie. Think I can get u a flight for a little over 2000 if ur flexible.

HansGolden

@Question: You need to check the airlines’ website to see if you earn full miles or not. What Dan means is that you’ll get the same amount of miles if book with Orbitz that you would if you booked on Iberia’s website.

alex

Would I be able to upgrade with BA avios. Points?

FanofDan

Been available for 3 weeks+ already…base fare $160 rt =prime candidate for fd…possible to get full AA eqm by faxing bc…the dates are over chanuka…

Dan

@dovid:
Orbitz will say which airline the flight is on.

@HansGolden:
Bingo.

@alex:
Doubtful.

@FanofDan:
I noticed it a week ago and posted it to DDF but they pulled the fare before I had the time to research the dates:
http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=16363.0

Now it’s back and I’ve done the homework for people.

Full EQM by faxing the BP? How’s that?

Shimmy

Are the dates posted the only ones available? I can’t go until 12/18

Dan

@Shimmy:
Those are the only dates that I know of.
Feel free to post others if you find them!

Shimmy

@Dan: @Dan:
Ok, will do. Not sure if I should go for this. I’ve been saving up UA miles for an Israel trip, so I may just wait until I have enough (about 160k for 2 ppl) as opposed to shelling out $1400. Thoughts?

Dan

@Shimmy:
Shell out the $1,400 and save up until you have 240K to fly 2 people in BusinessFirst to Israel for a future trip…or use 160K miles to fly 2 people in BusinessFirst to Hawaii 🙂

joe

whats the difference booking thru orbitz or direct from iberia.com?

arielle

Any great summer deals from NYC to Tel Aviv?

D

Dan, how do you find these deals? These offers seem so random!

Rachel

Similar fares available from Chicago too I found $765 for travel in the same time period.

me

@arielle

flights in the summer are really expensive…. start at about 1300 not direct and 1600 direct…

Nice

Can someone please help an amateur, I’m not interested in miles or anything like that, I simply want to know how to get a ticket for $702, when I click on the link to orbitz I don’t see those numbers anyway.

Please help. Thanks!!

eli

how much in taxes and fees ?

EB

I flew Iberia to Israel over Pesach just now. It was Iberia (it says AA, but the plane was Iberia) from NY to Madrid, and Elal from Madrid to TA.
Plane was very nice and comfortable, much nicer than El Al, and the service was good as well. The food, however, was an atrocity. so be prepared to bring your own food. not only did it look nasty, but they messed up the kashrus status of it by heating it after opening the package.

avi

Thank you – now i can visit my parents! i have not seen them in 2 years! Yerushalayim – B”H!

ps how do I request GLATT ?

mendy

@me:
i found airosvit thru russia for 1250 adults and 1050 child

AV

CAN I BOOK NOW AND CANCEL LATER ON WITH A FULL REBATE, IF I DECIDE NOT TO GO??

Shmuel Boruch

@mendy:
I am having trouble now with Aerosvit so beware! I am trying to get money back for lost baggage (it showed up almost 3 weeks later) and they seem to prefer not to pay. Maybe someone here has an idea, I would be happy to hear.

Had I spent the 3 minutes on the phone with AMEX Platinum, I would have enrolled in the premium baggage coverage and got the money from them for delayed baggage.

Besides for the lost luggage, it was a manageable flight with Kiev KBP a bit crazy and stupid but bearable.

Shulammis

Thank you so much for finding this!! Now I can go visit my daughter in seminary next winter, and even bring her sister along!! Tizke L’Mitzvos, as always!

Avi

Dan: guess what!? I just got an Orbitz email that my confirmation was cancelled due to unavailability of flights!! HUH!

Thomas

@Avi
Go to iberia website! You can still find tickets!

Now what?

I’m screwed! I booked a flight arriving at 3:50. Friday afternoon and just realized shkiah is at 4:30! How do I get a different arrival time? Is there any way to cancel my flight more than48 hours later!? Who else is in the same boat? Dan HELP!

Sam

@question:

Earns .6 Avios for miles flown in this booking class.

victor klinger

I would like to go to isreal in january 2013 do you have any special rates

Anonymous

Does anybody know if the flight insurance from orbitzs partner is worth the eighty five dollars?

tzvi

is the insurance from orbitz necessary

suri

the $702 airfare magically increased to $893 when i hit ‘select’ – a bit of false advertising.

Jay

@SURI

you must be doing something wrong!

I booked 21 tickets, all of them in the range of $703-$729.
if you see the times you like, DONT WAIT! book it!
i did everything thru Iberia.com where you have an option of paying 48 hours later.

THANKS DAN!!

Jacob

Tzvi,

the flight insurance Orbitz offers is a bit overpriced.
I always get my travel insurance from an insurance broker. provides a great company with excellent claims service. (I’ve had a claim or two)
