With Open Enrollment here, more and more Jewish Americans are embracing healthcare sharing.

Ask the average American citizen what their greatest financial strain is, and you’re bound to hear healthcare expenses listed. In fact, according to Forbes.com, an average family of four spends over $25,000 annually on their healthcare, surpassing what’s spent on housing! Moreover, 2019 will bring a host of changes to the world of healthcare laws with rising costs quickly following.

With Open Enrollment coming to a close, it pays to take a step back and evaluate: Am I really getting the best bang for my buck?

The truth is that while the United States has some of the best-trained physicians in the world, it also has one of the most dysfunctional and costly healthcare systems. But the good news though, is that while the traditional healthcare system has become more and more costly and unappealing, the first and only Jewish health-sharing organization, United Refuah HealthShare, is steadily gaining traction – with growing membership in 28 states!

And although United Refuah HealthShare is always open to new members, the overwhelming response over the last few weeks are a clear indicator of the frustration healthcare consumers are having with other options.

As a non-profit organization, United Refuah HealthShare operates with a low administrative overhead. After the first two months of membership, 86% of each member’s funds goes directly to share medical expenses. Members commit to living healthier lifestyles which generally results in fewer medical incidences, lower costs per medical incident, and much more rapid recoveries. The advisory services offered through United Refuah HealthShare assist members in navigating the healthcare system, to enable members to utilize the best combination of quality and price. And finally, members do not share the expenses for procedures that run contrary to members’ values or are unnecessary.

In addition to sharing in eligible medical expenses, United Refuah HealthShare also offers members complimentary unlimited access to telemedicine with board certified physicians – 24 hours a day. Additionally, members benefit from significant savings on prescriptions, dental services, vision care, and durable medical equipment.

But United Refuah HealthShare is not just about savings. At its core, United Refuah is a thriving community of like-minded people freely supporting one another. Furthermore, it is based on the moral and Torah principles that it is an inherent obligation for members to maintain their health and wellness and to promote the best life possible for themselves and their families.

United Refuah HealthShare is not an insurance company and does not offer insurance.

Open enrollment is closing yet they’re always open to new members?

Yes-Open enrollment for traditional insurance, so if you would want to say Siyonara to your traditional insurance and not sign up for another year, this would be the time to do it.

Abka

This company better not be the spammers that call me about 6 times a day from random non-working phone numbers!

These plans generally don’t make sense for anyone with existing medical needs since they exclude pre-existing conditions.

TGIShabbos

According to the EOB, pregnancy is considered a pre existing condition and may have certain waiting periods

LEVI

Seems like a no brainer… we pay $1800/month for our family. Can we only sign up this month?

Shimon

Hi if we get medicaid can we switch to this and pocket the savings???

TGIShabbos

Just put your last name down, so that the FBI can trace you down for Medicaid fraud

Yitz

This is not insurance. Period.

Let me understand this. You enter a hospital and state that you are self pay rather than insured. What if refuah runs out of money and does not pay?

“members do not share the expenses for procedures that run contrary to members’ values or are unnecessary”

Who decides this and what’s the appeals process like?

Legal
