We will spend Monday through Friday aboard our chartered traditional Amazon riverboat, cruising up and down the rivers while going on multiple excursions each day using the boat’s motorized canoe. The excursions are many and varied, giving us a real taste of this amazing corner of the world. The Amazon rainforest is home to the greatest biodiversity on Earth with the largest collection of plant and animal species anywhere. Here you will find at least 40,000 different plants, a fifth of all bird and fish species, and countless mammals.

Our local guides will lead treks into the rainforest to explore some of its amazing wonders, while teaching us all about the local flora and fauna. Expect to see exotic birds such as the scarlet macaw, mammals such as howler monkeys and sloths, and, if we’re lucky, the elusive jaguar. On the less-cuddly side of things, we have poison dart frogs, bird-eating tarantulas, and the massive anaconda – which we’ll hopefully only observe from far, far away. At night, we will search for caimans and other nocturnal animals.

Back on the water, we will have an opportunity to swim with the famous Amazon pink river dolphin, which is found only here. We will fish for piranha (not in the same place as we swim in!) and, should you so choose, have them for lunch. We will slowly canoe among the canals and channels of Anavilhanas National Park (home to the largest river archipelago  on Earth), and check out gigantic 10-foot lily pads at Lago Janauari.

​Other things we will do and places we’ll see include the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark water of the Rio Negro and the light water of the Rio Solimões meet to form the mighty Amazon. We will cruise along this meeting point, where the waters meet yet do not mix with each other for nearly ten miles, creating an incredible natural spectacle. We will also visit with a local indigenous tribe and see how they live their lives deep inside the Amazon.

All meals are included in the cost of your trip and will adhere to the highest  standards of Kashrus – Cholov Yisroel, Pas Yisroel, Glatt, and Chassidishe Shechita. All meals will be prepared fresh by the boat’s chef under the strict and constant supervision of our two mashgichim.

After 4-plus days on the river, we’ll disembark and prepare for Shabbos, for which we will join the wonderful Rabbi Arieh Reichman at Chabad of Manaus.

The cost of the trip includes a hotel stay for those arriving Sunday night, Monday morning breakfast, 4 nights on board our chartered boat, all boat excursions, activities, and guided treks, all meals and snacks on board, all drinks including mineral water, fruit juice, soft drinks, and beer, plus wine at dinner, Friday and Saturday night hotel stays, Sunday morning breakfast, all transfers, and even a donation in your name to our Shabbos hosts.
