Last month, Chase launched point transfers to JetBlue at a 1:1 ratio.
I’d still use the Chase Quadfecta to earn 1.5 to 5 points per dollar spent everywhere, but The Citi Premier® Card currently has a limited time 60K point signup bonus. That card offers several unique categories not found in the Quadfecta.
I think AMEX will feel the pressure to match Chase and Citibank’s transfer ratio to JetBlue in the coming months, but unfortunately AMEX charges a fee to transfer points to US airlines which adds 60 cents for every 1,000 points transferred with a maximum fee of $99 per transaction.
If you have a JetBlue Plus consumer or business card you’ll get a 10% rebate when redeeming JetBlue points. If you have both you’ll get a 20% rebate. That can add a lot of value to your JetBlue points.
Here is a look at the value of JetBlue points on several routes. Prices were calculated based on airfares last month.
- A flight from JFK to Washington DC on 11/4 is $58.23 or 3,300 points+$5.60, a value of 1.59 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 2,970 points, a value of 1.78 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 2,640 points, a value of 1.99 cents per point.
- A flight from Chicago to JFK on 10/16 is $71.02 or 4,300 points+$5.60, a value of 1.52 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 3,870 points, a value of 1.69 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 3,440 points, a value of 1.9 cents per point.
- A flight from Newark to Fort Lauderdale on 9/17 is $78.23 or 4,800 points+$5.60, a value of 1.51 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 4,320 points, a value of 1.68 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 3,840 points, a value of 1.89 cents per point.
- A flight from Fort Lauderdale to Havana on 10/14 is $85.40 or 2,400 points+$30.60, a value of 2.28 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 2,160 points, a value of 2.54 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 1,920 points, a value of 2.85 cents per point.
- A flight from Los Angeles to Orlando on 1/27 is $93.19 or 5,900 points+$5.60, a value of 1.48 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 5,310 points, a value of 1.65 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 4,720 points, a value of 1.86 cents per point.
- A flight from JFK to Bermuda on 10/14 is $101.40 or 5,500 points+$5.60, a value of 1.74 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 4,950 points, a value of 1.94 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 4,400 points, a value of 2.18 cents per point.
- A flight from Los Angeles to JFK on 12/5 is $118.24 or 7,800 points+$5.60, a value of 1.44 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 7,020 points, a value of 1.6 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 6,240 points, a value of 1.81 cents per point.
Values are a bit lower for Mint business class:
- A flight from Los Angeles to JFK on 1/19 is $558.25 or 42,200 points+$5.60, a value of 1.3 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Cardholders will effectively pay 37,980 points, a value of 1.46 cents per point. JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Cardholders will effectively pay 33,760 points, a value of 1.64 cents per point.
On average, you should be able to get a value of at least 1.5 cents per JetBlue point, 1.7 cents per JetBlue point if you have a JetBlue Plus card, or 1.9 per JetBlue point if you have a JetBlue Plus Consumer+Business Card.
JetBlue also runs sales like this one that offer much higher value for your points.
Transferring points to JetBlue is not a mind-blowing redemption like you can get with a international premium cabin ticket on an airline like ANA or even when booking a last-minute Cleveland-NYC flight for 7.5K points instead of paying $500, but it’s a decent value for your points.

I hope JetBLue starts service to Western Europe. Would be a good option. I wonder how much they would charge for Mint class from JFK to London or Paris.

A Jetblue crew member told me last February that they are working on entering the European market, and that London will likely be their first transcontinental route.
As I understand Citibank thank you will not transfer bonus points only if they are earned by spending on the card. Bonus points received for signing up can only be used on the thank you system. I correct?
