Earn 75,000 Miles On The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Card!

Signup bonus:

For a limited time, you can earn 75,000 Capital One miles for opening the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Card and spending $4,000 in 3 months.

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Rewards Credit Card also has the same 75K bonus for $4K spend available. Read more about that card here.

As you earn at least 2 miles per dollar everywhere, you’ll have at least 83,000 miles after spending $4,000 in 3 months. 83K miles can be used for $830 of travel, dining, or gift cards. Or it can be transferred into 83K airline miles.

The previous signup bonus offers on this card was 60K miles for spending $3,000 in 3 months.

Note that Capital One pulls and reports to all 3 of your credit reports. Capital One typically awards signup points even if you have the card in the past. It can be difficult, though it’s possible to get approved for more than 1 Capital One card every 6 months. You can have both the Venture and Venture X cards.

Annual fee:

There is a $95 annual fee for the primary card and no annual fee for additional cardholders.

Card earnings:

  • 2 miles per dollar everywhere.
  • 5 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through the Capital One Travel portal.
  • 5 miles per dollar on Turo car rentals through 5/16/23.
  • There are no foreign transaction fees.

Spend Threshold:

You’ll need to spend $4,000 on this card within 3 months.

You can pay your federal taxes for a 1.85% fee. If you overpay your taxes you can request a refund or apply it to your next year’s taxes.

My local natural gas company allows me to prepay up to $1,000 on a credit card for a $1.65 flat fee. That’s a great way to earn miles and help meet a spend threshold. My electricity supplier allows me to pay with a credit card for free as long as I am enrolled in autopay.

See this post for more ideas on meeting a credit card spend threshold.

Card benefits:

  • Rental car CDW insurance
  • Extended warranty
  • Lost Luggage Insurance
  • Travel Accident Insurance
  • Purchase protection for items damaged or stolen within 90 days
  • Virtual card numbers

Use points for paid travel reimbursement:

You can redeem your points to pay yourself back for any travel related expenses (airfare, hotels, car rentals, cruises, ride sharing, etc) or book new travel at a value of 1 cent per point.

Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check Credit:

It costs $85 to apply for a 5 year TSA Pre-Check membership which makes flying pleasant again. Shorter lines, no need to remove your shoes, belt, jacket, or hat. You can keep your laptop and small liquids inside your carry-on. And you go through a good old fashioned metal detector instead of assuming the position in the body scanner.  If you charge it on your card the fee will be refunded.

It costs $100 to apply for a 5 year Global Entry membership which lets you bypass the customs line. If you have Global Entry you also get TSA Pre-Check for free.

If you charge it on your card the fee will be refunded. You can get refunded for this charge once every 4 years.

You can read more more about the differences in this post.

My whole family has Global Entry and it sure makes traveling a whole lot easier!

Capital One Lounge Passes:

Capital One airport lounges have now launched with its first lounge in Dallas/DFW in terminal D near gate 22. Lounges in Denver/DEN and Washington/IAD will open later this year with more lounges to come.

Capital One Landing locations will soon launch at LaGuardia Terminal B and Washington/DCA.

Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and Capital One Spark Miles for Business cardholders get 2 free visits per year. Subsequent visits are $45 each.

Lounges feature grab and go food with to-go bags for your flight, fully stocked bars with local beers and craft cocktails, coffee bars, work zones, exercise rooms with Peloton bikes and yoga mats, nursing rooms, kids rooms, soundproof relaxation rooms, luggage lockers, multi-faith prayer rooms, and shower suites!

Hertz elite status:

Primary and additional cardholders get free Hertz Five Star elite status. Benefits include skip the counter and e-return, 25% bonus points, space available upgrades, wider ultimate choice availability, and more!

Capital One Entertainment:

Cardholders get exclusive access to sports, music, and dining events with exclusive pre-sale access and more.

For example, cardholders can redeem 5,000 miles for box seats at most MLB games.

Product changes:

You can change between the no annual fee Capital One Venture Rewards Credit CardOne, the $95/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the $395/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X.

Killer combos:

The $95/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card Card and the $395/year Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card X Rewards Credit Card offer 75,000 points for spending $4,000 in 3 months. Both these cards offer 2 miles per dollar everywhere and the ability to transfer points into airline miles and hotel points. The Venture X adds a $300 annual travel credit, a 10K mile annual anniversary bonus, lounge access, elite status, Global Entry/PreCheck, and more.

Family members of mine got the Spark Cash card in March (even though I told them to get the Spark Miles card).

1. I believe if they get this card, they can convert their cash balance into miles? But, as you mentioned in the post, it will be difficult to approved for this card so soon after getting the Spark Cash card.

2. If I get this card, can my family members transfer their Spark Cash cash balance into miles in my account?

Thanks!

Ely

From my experience with capital one, if you have too little utilization of credit they won’t approve you. I would love to get this card but have 1% credit utilization so I don’t think it’s worth the pull. Anyone with similar utilization who applies – let us know what happens!

Jew

Most people here probably have 1% and most people got approved in past, so…..

Jeff

Not sure. My utilization is 800. Cap One won‘t increase my limit to something usable because they say I don‘t use what I have :-). Which creates a Catch 22. I can‘t use a card which will hurt my utilization rate, and I can‘t increase the limit because I don‘t use what I have. Capital One has some good products, but that, plus the fact that they pull 3 credit reports, make me think twice about applying.

Leibish

I did a credit freeze on Experian and I was approved for the Venture X.

sam

so just to clarify, after spending 4000 i will have 83k plus 75k miles which is 158k miles altogether.
also can i reddeem this for cash instead

Jeff

Can I earn the bonus if I got it about three years ago?

The fine print says “Existing or previous Accountholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.”

NS

I just signed up for this cc a few days ago under the previous 60k signup bonus offer is there a way to match it to the current 75k offer?

ms

looking for a card that we can use right away for a 4k spend coming up this week… ideas?

USA

I’d you get this card you might be able to create a virtual card number right away

Eli

Hi, Dan. I was turned down for this card. The explanation given ; ‘Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter,
number of bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months’

Moish

I’ve racked up 500k C1 but good luck finding good options for J class direct to Israel. Qantas is the only option and they suck.

aa

Can I downgrade to the no af Venture one, even though I have one already, ending with two of the same card?

UncleMo

Are Citi points more or less versatile and/or valuable than Capital One miles? Thinking maybe the Citi Premier makes more sense for me as it earns 3 points on gas and groceries and if paired with a Citi Double Cash 2 points everywhere. Anything better about the Venture? Thanks!

Woofwoof

I would like to start accumulating C1 points, because they have some unique transfer partners, such as Cathay Pacific. How good is this offer, compared to historical ones for this card or similar cards? In the last 12 months, I got the Chase S Preferred and the BoA Custom Cashback cards. So, I need to apply carefully. Thx.

Varun agarwal

Don’t know why they don’t approve me :(. I have 800+ credit score, but somehow I am never able to pass thru them

Nachman G.

I applied for the venture x, got approved and after spending $330 (plus the fee), they locked my account and had to verify income.
I sent my bank statements for last 3 months and they then shut all my capital1 credit cards. [Quicksilver and the venture x.]
Reason being “my income wasn’t verifiable”.
[I included in income when I applied for QuickSilver/journey $28,000 since I included college scholarship/grants, dorm and food. Besides other small income]
I spoke on phone with Cap1 and they said that I can’t include scholarship and grants unless it gets deposited into my bank account and then I could pay the tuition.
Anything to do now?
Should I try again and can I use family household income if need proof of income?
@Dan pls help!

Yony

I have 160k C1 points, to which star alliance partner is it worth to transfer it to? I only have experience with United and M&M

PY

If I currently have a Capital One Venture card, do I need to downgrade to a Capital One VentureOne and then only then apply for a Capital One Venture? If yes, how long should I wait from after downgrading to apply?

Capital Fun

Is there a way to make points worth more than 1 cent each in travel portal like chase 1.5 or Amex 35% rebate?

Jacob

If I did not get approved for the venture x card a couple of months ago, what are chances for getting approved now?

terpy

Rejected when I tried to apply. It’s nearly impossible to get approved for Capital One.

Dave

if i got the venture x, can i still get this signup bonus?

Woofwoof

I just applied and got approved within one day. Looking forward to using this card. This is my first C1.

Menachem

I see that you can only get two capitol one cards at one time. I have venture x and platinum (not secured). Can I get the venture?

curious

I have a venture and a venture X, can i get a second plain venture???

Dave

are airbnb/vrbo considered travel?

Y

Does Capital One let you have few venture one cards?

Lets say i have one already, Or want to get the 75k from Venture and 20k from Venture one then downgrade Venture to Venture one

Adam W

Anyone feel free to chime in.
I’m I right in saying that if you use Capital One points to “pay” for travel at a rate of 1 cent per point. You’re actually getting 2 cents per point, on the points earned by spend, because you earn a minimum of 2 points per transaction. Is that correct thinking?

Yony

I have almost 200K Capital One points, to which star alliance partner is it worth to transfer it to? I only have experience with United and M&M

yoni

i have a very good credit score and got declined twice for this card, any insight why? ive contacted capital one last time and tried disputing the decline because it was due to a false credit report, but still nothing

Reb Srul\'s

Hi Dan.
#1] Is this better than citi Premier as it has Capital shopping?
#2] Does Capital have payment centers in Brooklyn NY or central NJ?
#3] Any relatively good cards with no annual fee [down grade option] or introductory 0% APR?
Thank you

chaim

also wondering why i didnt get approved with 814 credit . any way to fight it?

MoG

This card does NOT have baggage delay coverage, emergency medical and dental coverage, or emergency medical transport and evacuation insurance, the features most travelers are looking for.

J stein

Does anyone know if capital one will approve me even if i don’t upload the documents they asked me to upload to verify my income (tax or bank statements, post stubs). I know some places and up approving without them.

el

Do the additional cardholders also get lounge passes? Or only the main cardholder?

Moshe

if i have Ventrue X, will i still receive the 75k welcome bonus ?
(writing from Eretz Yisroel after shabbos)

aaron

same question?

yosef

i signed up for the venture x, if i downgrade it will they wave the 395 dollar fee?

D R

Would it work to Apply for the venture x and venture one at the same time

Me

T&C’s state: Existing or previous Accountholders may not be eligible for this one-time bonus.

Any data points on previous cardholders? It’s been about a year since I cancelled the last one.

Newbie

If I already have two C1 cards, can I get approved/bonus for another?

Shlomie

I was able to triple up on pts here , got the VX, Venture and V1 card got all bonuses

dave s

Declined for both myself and wife. Credit scores 785+, all three credit reporting agencies unfrozen, no new cards over last two years, own home free and clear, no outstanding bills or past due payments. I had a capital one cc about 5 years ago. Tried calling application line but the rep was worse than useless. Will just wait for the letter to arrive in the mail and might try calling then.

Yehuda

Hi Dan, can I transfer capital one points to dollars?

Mm

How many capital one cards can I sign up for at the same time and get accepted to?

Looking to receive as many points as possible with them..

Mike

Dan, do you recommend the Venture or Venture X?

Newbie

Can I book a ticket on Turkish for myself and a friend but only he will fly (apparently Turkish doesn’t let you book just for someone else)?

David

Dan, Venture or venture x for my parents? Which do you recommend more? Thanks

Mendy

Just got denied. Is there a reconsideration phone number to call?

moshe

I was denied the card because had more then 2 accounts so just closed other accounts should I wait to open this card after the closing of the other account or am I god to go?
