Guys, just take the plunge and watch one shiur. I did and it has changed my life in so many ways. I learn Torah now every day and R’ Eli is incredible, entertaining and clear. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

I can. On every daf. For 2 reasons. #1) Reb Elis shiur is very focused on the daf, explaining pshat well and
#2 , R’ Eli gives a daily 8 Minute Daf Review. I watch the review daily and once a week I watch all 7 reviews from the previous week.
I guess you’re pessimistic approach will save the world
How can you criticize people having a regular daily shiur? I started daf 24 years ago and the way it changed my life and my family is immeasurable.
24 years of learning daf yomi apparently didn’t help you learn how to dan people l’kaf zechus. I have nothing against the daf; even did it myself here and there. I have beef against someone who tries to bribe someone who is either a) not learning or b) learning something else, to try out a online fast-paced shiur, with a bribe. That’s all.
I hope i don’t offend anyone but; No. A person should not be learning the daf unless he will gain from it more than learning other things. Learn Halacha Yomi, Rambam Yomi, Amud Yomi, or any other Yomi limudim if you will be gaining more from that. Just because the shiur is entertaining, fun, and you get a free gemara is not a reason to join.
Nope – it seems pretty clear that you are against DY as you ask Yehuda (who said that the daf shiur changed his life) to tell you “can you tell me over last weeks daf? what about 2 things from last weeks daf?”
Moe, it’s as simple as this. While you might be right idealistically that people should learn other things, (not agreeing, just making a point) you are missing a major fundamental point that Reb Eli talks about all the time and that is this
“It’s not about the Daf, it’s about the Yomi”
What that means is, that say you are focused on iyun. Yes, it might be more important, but you are not going to never miss a day. Will you learn your hour iyun on Purim? Erev Yom Kippur? Motzei Yom Kippur? Erev Yom Tov etc? That’s the point. With Daf yomi, you learn day in and day out and make Torah a daily part of your life.
Nesanel – what you seem to be saying is that its worth it to settle for the bottom of the barrel (not learning anything lmaaseh, not remembering, and not doing iyun) because at least you will be learning every day.
I’ve never heard of such a thing. Can you, or anyone else here, quote any Rav or Gadol saying such a shita?
Why do you assume to know what is more meritorious? Are you Hashem? You are making a lot of assumptions.
Also, do you not see the value of someone sitting and learning every day, even if he never remembers it?
Yes, the Aggadata in Taanit as been great. Last week we had 2 famous stories of Choni Hamaagel (Slept for 70 years and drew a circle and prayed for it to rain). There you go 2 things from last weeks daf.
