better than obi

Does anyone know how this compares with the Obi? Which is better?

David

Hi, would anyone know how this works, would I need internet for this, and is it free forever? How does the company plan to stay in business?

Chanie

I have Ooma. You need high speed internet. Its not free forever- you need to pay tax (depending which state you live in).

Do you need to pay for “Premier” in order to have name caller id?
Do you need to pay $40 to port a #?
Is the 30 day guarantee really free?
Dan, JJ: I’d love to hear your recommendation about this, as the reviews are all over the map.
Thanks.

Marky

Officially you need premier to have name caller I’d for incoming and outgoing.port ins are $40 unless you pay for a year of premier

Anonymous

@Marky: Thanks for the reply. What do you mean “officially”?

rachel

How much is premier a year?

Marky

@Anonymous: people that have had the earlier version of ooma have told me they have callerid without paying extra. I don’t know of any other way to get it for free. BTW Obi with Google voice there is no option to show your caller I’d when calling but there supposedly is a workaround using ringcentral to get callerid name incoming

Marky

@rachel: from their website “Sign-up for a year of Ooma Premier ($119.99) and get a free number transfer, Bluetooth Adapter, Wireless Adapter or Extended Warranty.” Make sure you have good latency on your internet connection before getting any VoIP service

We got ooma about 4 months ago, and we are really happy. we had to pay 44.44 for the porting of the number and we pay $4.19 in taxes every month. The voice quality is crystal clear. We use Comcast 50mbps internet.

dina

What are some of the cheap and good internet service providers (for only internet) that people use that don’t need to be bundled with phone & tv?

CT

I am interested in changing over to one of these types of phone services, but would need an overhaul of my internet connection and would need help porting my number, anybody know of anyone that can help me? I am in Brooklyn.
