I’ve just completed a complete database overhaul due to this scary news.com article that I’ve been delaying and dreading for over a year and a half while ignoring 13 (!) new versions in the interim.
It took me a good 6 hours to manually complete, but I believe that I’ve finally hammered out most of the bugs. If you do encounter any issues please post them here.
The good news is that it seems that WordPress has finally included the ability to automatically upgrade to newer versions, so I hope that this will be my last manual install. Don’t forget to backup your database and make a copy of your content folder if you’re upgrading your own blog to the latest version of WordPress so that you don’t lose your data while avoiding falling victim to the worm making the rounds!
