Dunno about this, Dan. I’m in for one but it’s playing with fire cause it shows up as a coupon on a GC purchase and Staples has been known to pull the plug on folks who do that…

Mine actually worked. Went all the way to the order verification screen showing $181.95 for a $200 gc order, but email confirmation as well as pending charge are for $206.95.

My cheshben is like this… anytime there is a chance to get gc @ staples with a coupon or rebate of any sort instead of going for 1 $200 gc in this case I went for 5 per order.. why you might ask? answer is simple.. maximize on getting the gc @ face value (no fees) this case 5 $200 gc = $1034.75 – $25 from the visa checkout = $1009.75 – $10 for visa savings edge = roughly 999.90 (face value) x 5 ppd from ink = 5K points… and you lower the risks of getting the order canceled because you are placing less orders than if you would if you “maximize” savings… same with rebates you are applying for less rebates less chances of getting flagged. that was my .02

@avibk: actually 25$ is 25$ no matter how you slice it. You can use it on one GC and pay 182, then buy 4 more at full: 828, total is the same 1010
If you use an amex just make sure that your order is over $200. If you use the visa coupon it drops the order down to $ 181. Not sure if the amex $15 off $200 will kick in

Yes, but the staples rewards cancels out the fees effectively so i got the cards for only 25 bucks off but a boat load of miles (over 8k)

I would completely avoid deals like this if I were everyone, good chance all of you (especially those with multiple orders) will get a lifetime ban as Staples has a very very strict policy against coupons/discounts for Gift Cards (even if it doesnt say it on the terms of the coupon). Just spoke with maddening Indian customer service. They have removed the promo for the rest of the day today. It will be restored tomorrow, but gift cards will be explicitly excluded. YMMV.
It is not a coupon, it is a discount for paying with Visa checkout and there was nothing in the terms against buying a gift card, so I don’t think people will get their accounts closed over this.
However, the people who started making 4 or 5 accounts and ordering it 5 times, they have a good chance of getting their accounts closed.

Jason, doesn’t matter what the terms say, Staples is HARDCORE. I had a temp ban for a similar offer about a year ago where I only made one offer with no coupon and never said anything about giftcards. I’m just saying to tread very lightly because they dont care what the terms say because their overall policy states you cant. Also, they don’t take any excuses.

no point, it’s the deal dead anyway. I’ve got 3 orders in early this morning, using 3 accounts. Surprising they figured out two were using same address and combined accounts but orders are not canceled yet. 3rd order shipped to my business address is alive as well. so far so good but I’ve seen deals like this before where I’ve got all my orders canceled eventually.

staples is known to ban you for lifetime if you use any discount on GCs. They wont explain or negotiate. You are taking a chance. They are good at it.
Offer is dead. Spoke to a Visa savings rep. and they closed it earlier than expected as a result of to many people just signing up and only buying Staples gift cards.

Yep… this wasn’t going to last… got the confirmation that I all of my orders are shipped, two $100 ones and one 10x$200 big order to make it worth while for Staple to honor. I am happy that I got 3 while it last. will see if they are good when arrived. Last time something like this happened, I’ve got two cards shipped before they cancel all orders. Those cards were no good when I tried to activate.
