Mr. Coffee Latte Machine

4.5/5 star average reviews.  Other stores like Bed Bath and Beyond charge $100.

“-Delicious lattes in one simple touch
-24-ounce capacity to serve more than one drink at a time
-Auto power off once drink is ready
-Also makes hot chocolate; recipe book with 20 latte and hot chocolate recipes included
-Uses 4-cup basket coffee filters

Be Your Own Barista: The recipe book includes 20 different varieties of easy to make drinks that are tasty, fun and will help you save money compared to visiting the coffeehouse chains. From a basic latte to a decadent gingerbread latte, the process is easy and consistently delivers great results. Bring coffeehouse-style beverages from the latte maker to your cup in minutes.

The Café Latte features easy to use controls and an automatic latte cycle. In just three steps, you can create your perfect latte.
1. Load water and espresso or coffee grounds into the top of the lid
2. Add milk and desired ingredients to the latte carafe (froth may vary by type of milk used)
3. Push the Power lever down to turn on the latte maker

When the latte creation process is complete, the machine will turn off automatically and your latte will be ready to serve. Fill your favorite mug, spoon any additional foam into your cup to complete your latte, and enjoy.

You can also treat the whole family to hot chocolate. Simply add milk and hot chocolate ingredients to the latte jar and switch the selector lever to the heat & froth function. When the unit is turned on, it will heat and froth the milk without activating the brewing function.”

Heshy

Walmart has it for $39.99.

Dan

@Heshy:
Link please?
I just searched and don’t see that. Amazon seems to be way cheaper than anyone else online for this machine.

ben

Q: Does a Keurig require tevilas kaylim? Isn’t it basically a computer?

OU – A: Unlike most other hot water urns that can withstand being dunked in water, so long as they are properly dried, the Keurig machine has a digital component that cannot survive getting wet. Additionally, even if one were to attempt to toivel a Keurig machine, the inner chamber will not fill with water. Water will only enter the inside chamber by being pumped through. So tevila is not really an option.

cRc Chicago – Q: Does one need to dip a Keurig coffee maker in the mikvah?

A: A Keurig coffee maker does not need to be toveled. Although there are some metal components on the inside, it is still considered to be a plastic machine. Additionally, Rav Gedalia Dov Schwartz is of the opinion that electronic machines that will be ruined by immersion in the mikva do not need to be immersed. An example of this would be a Keurig with an electronic screen.

Bracha

Thanks for the link but this isn’t a keurig which goes directly into a cup. The heating element is on the bottom of the glass jar where the milk and sugar goes into and is one piece. That is why I’m asking

dave

I toiveled it. Just let it dry before you use it. Should be OK

dude

some rabonim will tell you to give it in to a handy man to take apart and then put it back together making it into a “maseh umin” wich doesn’t require tevilah

Anonymous

$49.99 again from Amazon

Ben

$49.99 on Amazon again

malkie

@Bracha: I toiveled the whole thing and then let it dry for 4 days. (All pieces including where water is added on top) We’ve been using it non-stop since. Enjoy!

Jacob

Can I set the timer before shabbos to have fresh latte after shul?

DAVID

im in $49

AF

Got this machine for $99 from Bed Bath & Beyond.
Absolutely a great machine! Put in the water, coffee, milk, press the lever and come back a few minutes later to a delicious and HOT latte!
A bargain at this price!

@jacob

It’s not permisible to set up a timer on a machine that will cook for you on shabbos. It’s considered michze kemebashel and it’s forbidden. Sorry

wondering

dan, i really dont like to just kick in questions, but i just couldnt seem to find the answer. is the 33.3% off valid on a Macys American Express card too??

DB

Dan, i just want to say you are the man! and you should have the chizuk to continue on doing what you are doing. and always find a way to help am yisroel! WE LOVE YOU

Bruce

@Bracha I didn’t see a need to toivel the actual unit because it is plastic besides for the mixer spindle which pops out. I toiveled the glass carafe (even though it says not to immerse) and used 24 hours later. Agree with the other posters that it is used non-stop in my house. Real “feinshmeckers” will only use frothed milk made by steam like the expensive latte machines. The rest of us are fine with this machine’s method of heating and mixing the milk to froth.

Jacob

Why is it michze kemebashel to set it before shabbos? How is it any different from setting a timer to do anything for you on shabbos (like turning on a light?) Is setting a timer to turn on the light mechzi khavara?

malkie

@Bruce: Ask your Rabbi about whether or not the unit needs to be toiveled. Mine said that wherever the water is cooking definitely contains metal components that need to be toiveled.
