Its not that bad for amazon purchases as you earn 3%, however it might still be worth it to put on SPG for warranty purposes.

Chase has cards that give hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of miles and you want to signup for a card just for $30??
My threshold to signup for a card is much more than that.

You can earn 10% with any Ink card. And like you said you’ll want SPG for anything that you want a warranty for.

You get 5 points per dollar using your Ink card at office supply stores and each point is worth nearly 2 cents. All of the major office supply stores sell Amazon gift card.
In fact earlier this year Office Max had 20% off Amazon gift cards, so that was a real steal with my Ink cards!
