Update: As part of Citi’s new AA card benefits, Mastercard, Visa, and AMEX Select cardholders get a 10% rebate on all miles redeemed on up to 100,000 miles per year. Thus a coach reduced award will now cost just 15,750 miles round trip after the instant 7,500 mileage reduction and the 10% (in this case 1,750) mileage rebate.
You can book tickets for 7,500 less miles than American Airlines regularly charges if you have an AAdvantage Select, Executive, or Business credit card.
To book these awards just call AA’s AAdvantage desk at 800-882-8880 and reference the following award code:

If I have SPG points, but want to use them for an AA flight, does it pay to redeem them via LAN and get 1:2 then use them on AA via OneWorldAlliance, or will that not work or have hidden fees etc? Also, how does the 10% rebate play into that calculations, I only have the business AAdvantage card, which I didn’t see offering the 10% rebate – does it also have it?

Just booked a round trip originating in Toronto to LAX for a total of 17500 miles and $25 booking fee.
I hope to get another 10% back because of my AA Visa. will wait and see….

I booked two award tickets for my children to a qualifying city with qualifying dates but I did not use promo code and paid full miles 25k.
The return portion has not been flown yet.
I called to see if they can reinstate some miles, they said they cant do anything because travel has already begun.
Any ideas?
