What is biltong?
In spite of what it sounds like, there’s actually no tongue in this South African delicacy. It’s just quality beef sliced, spiced, and air-dried to perfection. The Grub Company makes it in small batches, using only premium grass-fed beef and sustainably sourced spices. It’s a tender, flavorful, healthy, and addicting snack.
We only use CHK/Rabbi Weissmandl certified glatt kosher beef, and all ingredients are certified kosher.

Does this company have Kashrus certification?
CHK/Rabbi Weissmandl
We’re working on getting our certification, however at the moment we are not under the auspices of a rabbinical authority.
We are all Chabad, Shomer Shabbos Jews and we only use CHK certified meat.
FYI – there is no bishul with Biltong.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Doesn’t sem that they have a kosher certification. They just list the certifications of the product. Would be happy to see a certification
+1, Would be great if the Grub gets Kosher Certified by R Weissmandl or similar standard of supervision.
For refernece purposes this is a 6oz bag for 9.99. A regular bag of beef jerky is about 5.99 for a 2 oz bag… This is a pretty good price…
Their website says:
“We use only certified Glatt Kosher meat (CHK), and our pure spice blend is all OU/OK/KSA certified.”
That seems to indicate that the actual finished product has no certification. Is that correct? Does anyone know?
I would also like this point clarified. Who’s to say these are the only things going into the product.
That’s correct.

Thanks for the clarification.woul love to try it out as soon as you get a hechsher. Hope you can understand why I wouldn’t be able to rely on a post on a blog saying we are kosher
There is no rule that you must have a hashgacha but usually when buying food from another with no hashgacha you eighther know them or the people of their community. So where are you guys located, does Dan know you guys and eat your product? Help us want to buy it
We’re located in Ormond Beach Florida.
Rabbi Stock from Connecticut came by to check out our operation and has agreed to give us a hashgocha, however unrelated to our process, we have two requirements that were working on so we can get his official certification.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me @ motty@thegrubcompany.com if you have any additional questions or want more details.
Thanks!
If you’re located in florida, why are you using a rabbi from Connecticut for certification? Why not use a florida based hashgacha?
Very Misleading!! Please include in post that although they are all Chabad, Shomer Shabbos Jews and only use CHK certified meat.
!!THERE IS NO HECHSER ON THE FINAL PRODUCT!!
Without a hechsher I will not be buying either.
@Dan please clarify I made a huge mistake ordering an enormous amount of this. Normally I check several times but I got confused as you always give fair warning. If you want his advertising dollars that fine as you are not a strictly kosher site, but you always give fair warning. Thank you for understanding.
Hi Abe,
As per your email, we have refunded your order in full.
Sorry if the post created some confusion.
Thanks
Amazing quick unbelievable guys that apparently I know there family very well as well as friends in my community. Please put me on a short list to notify as soon as you get an hashgacha I can’t wait to buy it. Very happy thank you.
Thanks Abe for the positive feedback!
Yes, we will definitely let you know once we get our hashgocha 🙂
