Yossi

I Like the Hybrid Points.
Thanks Dan!

5.7K Amex points or even fewer still Virgin America miles

Michael kohan

@Dan I saw some dates in february with jetblue for the same price using the celebrate promo.

Dan

@high end hobo:
If you happen to have ’em.

@Michael kohan:
I wrote that yesterday, but that isn’t bookable with hybrid points.

Deal Guy

9.3K round trip using Virgin A Miles

Even better deal than using Chase and Amex points.

Eli

You can also book the same fare directly from Virgin Airlines @ http://www.virginamerica.com You can also book the round trip & the same price will show. The total for the round trip is $228.60. Virgin unlike American has certain seats they don’t charge an extra fee for.

Dan

@Deal Guy:
See previous comments

@Eli:
Less time to cancel than on Priceline though.

Eli

By booking on websites other than the Airlines official site can be detrimental @ times as the airline is not responsible is something goes wrong etc.

Dan

@Eli:
Nonsense.

AMEX Rebate

I thought Virgin America isn’t on the AMEX Airline choice list??

Eli

I just checked Priceline for those fares. If ordering from priceline you cannot pick your seat rather you can just pick if you want a window or Aisle seat etc. If people don’t have a confirmed seat in the rare case that they overbook people without assigned seats are the first to get bumped.

Dan

@Eli:
Do you make this up as you go along?
You can still pick a seat after you book direct with the airline.

high end hobo

@Deal Guy:
Actually probably still better to use Amex points so you wont have to pay $11.20 in Fees and you’ll earn ~1000 miles from the trip

Eli

Yes maybe you can book the seat directly with the Airline but that also means you have to spend time on the phone calling them to do so.

Daniel

Doesn’t seem to work for the dates i entered 1/22-1/26

Dan

@Eli:
No, you can do it online.

@Daniel:
“Always search one-way for 1 seat and then work your way up to the number of seats you need in order to book as many seats on sale as you can.”

dave

When u say always search for one seat one way even if the airline says only one left at this price?

Dan

@dave:
Grab the cheapest seat and then book more.

Deal Guy

@high end hobo:

Most people have VA miles from the JB match.

A lot of people don’t have the Business Plat and I’d rather keep my MR points for having a more universal choice.

IMO, Virgin is a better value.

Eli

Update the cheap special Fare sale of $229 round Trip from NYC to LA with Virgin & American has ended & now its about $276 round trip.

Mistake

You cannot select Virgin America as AMEX airline choice!!!

Dan

@Mistake:
Did you call and ask?

Mistake

@Dan yes, multiple times! Ended up selecting American and got great tickets, so thank you!!
