Great deal

How does this compare with obi200?

Michael

I have both an Obi and an Ooma. Both are good. The Ooma “taxes” presently run about $5/month. They have gone up periodically. I think it was about $3/month when I first bought the device years ago.

There are some nuances that distinguish the two products related to conference calling and Ooma has a premium option (probably about $8-10/month extra) that will provide caller ID with name (vs. just phone number) and some other extra features.

For basic phone, would go with Obi and avoid the annuity monthly payment associated with Ooma.

Michael

A couple of points worth noting that favor Ooma are: (1) Ooma has 911 emergency locator (unlike Obi) and (2) Simplicity of porting a landlline number to Ooma (vs. complex porting of landline to Obi, which only allows porting from mobile phone number).

Moe

It’s possible to get 911 service on an OBi (via a third-party service such as Callcentric.)
