COUPON IS 40%

Rounding Difference

9.84, not 9.83.

And I was curious enough about why that is that I put it in Excel to see. Turns out, you’d expect a 15% discount + a 30% discount, both off the original price, to simplify to a 45% discount, and 65% of 17.88 is 9.834, which would round down to 9.83 (or a 45% discount would be 8.046, which would round up to 8.05) . But Amazon’s checkout applies each discount separately and rounds each to the nearest cent before combining them, so 15% generates 2.682 and 30% generates 5.364, each of which rounds down.
