What are the chances booking sites like Expedia, Hotels.com, etc give the same flexibility in the coming week?

Joe

The Pulitzner Hotel in Amsterdam refuses to give me a refund for my stay next week. Any thoughts?

Harry

What about Fairmont?

bigissy

any news about what airlines are doing about status? I contacted AA two weeks ago as my status was expiring in April. They told me that as of now they will not extend. Do you know if thats changed?

Abe Da\\\'Babe

Dan thank you so so so much. I have been trying to cancel an upcoming stay at a resort that i booked with my points. The supervisor on the phone that i spoke with today HAD NO CLUE about this policy and told me I would still be charged $1,100 for the cancellation. He said ” wow they did not even bother to tell us about this” after i guided him to the Hyatt website that discusses this. He said i will be refunded my points and not be charged any penalty. B”H thank you and keep on posting!

Does that mean if I bought the 7 day voucher for Marriot that expires in July 2020 that I have now till Jan 31 2021 to use it?

Joe

If I just cancelled a Marriott reward booking and the certificate expires in May will it be extended till May 2021 ?

BG

The Marriott policy is not clear if if only applied to new reservations for stays through April 30, or for new reservations made for statys at any time, as long as the reservation is made by April 30: “For guests making new reservations for any future arrival date, including reservations with pre-paid rates, between today and April 30, 2020, we will allow the reservation to be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival date.”

Heather

Has anyone had experience with Priceline refunding/changing hotel reservations with their Express Deals? (Hotwire business model that Priceline now has as an option instead of bidding.)

Zalc

Hyatt does not seem to allow cancellations for Small Luxury Hotels…

Josh

Still no update on Hyatt or IHG extending anniversary free night waivers?

DoB

Glad to see that Hilton has made this change, but when will IHG be extending free nights? I have an unrestricted free night expiring in early April that’s absolutely useless now.

Dan

I am in the same position with my IHG unrestricted free night expiring 3/31. I called and requested an extension under these circumstances and they said that they put in the request and I would hear within 7 to 10 days. I doubt I will hear so I just keep checking to see if it works.

DoB

I emailed, and was told that they were awaiting guidance from Chase.

Memere613

My Marriott packages don’t show an updated date of 2021…

E

Will Marriott automatically extend the annual free nights or do I need to call it in? Mine expires in May.

Mo

What’s with IHG I have a few uncapped nights that are expiring soon. Any way they will issue an extension?

El

Do I need to have my hilton card still open to use my free night from the open bonus? Or is it ok to close the card now and will the bonus be avail thru 2021?

J

How do we get the Marriott vouchers extended? Mine still show the original dates in 2020. Thanks!

Anon

Hi Dan
Thanks so much as always for all the valuable info!
I have an Ihg and Marriot anniversary night expiring in April. Are those going to be extended?

Moshe

IHG is extending the chase free night to 09/29/20 but only if you call in and have them do it manually.
Side benefit is that, you can now book any stay even after the expiration date, as long as you book before the expiration, like in the good old days.

Marty

I’ll be changing alright… from Marriott to Hyatt.

CoronaTravel

Any idea if Credit card benefits will be extended?
Ex. Hilton Aspire; $250 airline/hotel credit
Will that be extended as well?

Hasan Yacoub

Does anyone have any luck with Marriott’s challenges? I was more than halfway there and they are saying the only option is to start over…

Kivi

Ihg is extending the anniversary nights even the uncapped ones for 6 months from the existing experation date

schlomo

ACCOR’s policy is really OUTSTANDING…as in standing out (in a bad way) from the others. Very very bad, accor

Josh

@Dan what about “Free Night Award Certificates” can those be refunded if paid with points?

Mike

Have you heard anything of websites like VRBO or AirBNB? We had a trip booked with VRBO to New Orleans and they said it is up to the renter, the renter refused a full refund and VRBO says there is nothing they can do. We lost HALF of the money for the rental (and it was not cheap).

Dave

Dispute with the CC?

Mike

Yes, I have a dispute in now with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card hoping their policy holds up in this case.

Avi

Dan, inhave a certificate for marriot that expired last week and it no longer shows up on my account. Is the expectation that they will reinstate that expired certificate? Thanks

J

Just got an email from Enterprise extending point expiration. I sent a note to Hertz asking if they will extend as well since I have points expiring in two weeks and they suddenly [I noticed about a month or two back] removed the transfer to air partners redemption option. Very disappointed in all of the Hertz negative changes without notice over the years. Conversely, impressed with Enterprise pro-activeness.

“Dear Joshua,

We know you have questions and concerns about your Enterprise Plus® rewards in light of the current global health emergency. You’ve worked hard for your rewards, and we want to give you more time to enjoy them.

Therefore, we’re extending Enterprise Plus points expiring in March, April and May of 2020. If you have points set to expire in this time frame, you’ll see this reflected as a courtesy point extension in your member profile by April 30, 2020. As a reminder, points only expire if you haven’t had any rental activity in three years.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation in the best interest of our members, and we’ll let you know if other adjustments are made. In addition, we’re reevaluating elite tier qualification and working on a solution for elite members who haven’t been able to take advantage of their benefits yet this year. We’ll have more details for affected members soon. Rest assured, we want you to enjoy the status and benefits you’ve earned, now and in the future.

Thank you for your continued loyalty. We’re all in this together. During these challenging times, Enterprise® remains on call for all — committed to helping frontline responders, and you, move forward.

Learn more about our commitment to help you get wherever you need to be.”

Jim

No anniversary free Hyatt award night extension And no chase anniversary IHG award night extension!

Dov

Does that mean that 2020 and 2021 will also count as 2 elite years towards platinum? Or are they just extending your status? Meaning if have 8 years platinum will this make me lifetime?

deb

Even though this seems to be about hotels — ElAl is extending my elite status for 1 year past it’s current expiration.

Pj

It seems like the hilton aspire regular resort benefit will still apply in addition to the restaurant credit or did I read the t&c wrong?

Mendy

What did airbnb extend exactly?

J

Dan do you think Marriott will extend the free night awards/travel packages beyond 1/31/21? I sure hope so – if not, I have 9 nights to burn before then (7+1+1).

yechiel

i called them up as my free night award from the credit card expires next june, and they said as of now, they have no plans on extending it, they hope things will go back to normal by next year and the customers will be able to use them

Menachem

This is probably a typo mistake “AMEX Aspire and Surpass free weekend nights that were previous issued or will be issued by 12/21/30 will be valid on any day of the week.,,
It’s probably meant to be 12/30/21

C2CMom

I have a Marriott certificate expiring on 8/30/2020 and I called to see if it could be extended to 1/31/2021 but they refused. When I complained they said they would get back to me. Today I received an email saying “regrettably, this free night certificate is no longer issued or offered due to an outdated benefit value. As such, expiration date extension can not be extended for this specific certificate.” This is a 25,000 point certificate that I received from Marriott Visa card. Has anyone else had this problem?
