IHG previously extended credit card anniversary night certificates from 12/31/20 to 8/31/21. They did that by giving a bonus free night certificate.
IHG tells me that they are now extending the expiration date for those nights to 12/31/21.
Additionally they previously said that points wouldn’t expire until 6/30/21. They are now extending the pause on points expiration through 12/31/21. Points normally expire after 12 months of inactivity. If you have IHG Gold, Platinum, or Spire elite status (or an IHG credit card like the Chase IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card or Chase IHG One Rewards Traveler Credit Card which give elite status) then your points never expire.

Uncapped certificates (originally set to expire in April 2020, and now extended for the third time) are still uncapped, I assume?
Maybe not the right place to put this, but does anyone know who to contact to reset an IHG Rewards account? I was locked out of my account, and trying to get it reset the last few days has been a nightmare. Clicking “reset password” doesn’t work, they never sent me an email (yes, I checked my spam). I tried their online chatbot. The chatbot forwarded me to a chat with a real person. The real person said they were unable to help me over chat and gave me a phone number to call. The phone number kept me on hold for 30 minutes and then the person who picked up said they were unable to help me but would forward me to the correct person. After another 20 minutes on hold, someone picked up the phone and immediately hung up on me.
Did you try FaceBook messenger? I sometimes have luck that way.
Any luck with asking them to waive the annual fee for this year?
Both my anniversary night and my wife’s one are still set to expire on 8/31/2021.
It should be extended over the coming days.

If you have IHG Gold, Platinum, or Spire elite status then your points never expire – That will only be as long as you have status- as an example like in my acount – Your IHG Rewards status has been automatically extended through January 2022. However once it will come Feb. 2022 the points will expire if there is no activity. Is this correct or not?

I have about 45,000 IHG Points that I just logged into my account and says they expire at the end of August of this year. Are you saying they’re going to give me a reprieve till the end of December? Normally I make a dummy booking and then cancel it and reset the date for another year. Any suggestions? Because I just may naturally redeem something before the end of the year
