JetBlue is launching service to Amsterdam, bringing their new MINT business class service and free WiFi on flights to their 3rd city across the pond after London and Paris.

The airline announced today that they will fly daily between JFK and Amsterdam starting 8/29 followed by flights between Boston and Amsterdam starting on 9/20 on their new A321LRs.

For now, these are only available directly from JetBlue, but online travel agents should have access to them in the coming days.

I flew to Amsterdam several years ago and had a great time there.

The flight will depart JFK at 10pm and arrive into Amsterdam at 11:35am. The return flight departs Amsterdam at 1:35pm and arrives into JFK at 4pm.

The flight will depart Boston at 8pm and arrive into Amsterdam at 9:35am. The return flight departs Amsterdam at 11:35am and arrives into Boston at 3pm.

For me, the biggest disappointment with JetBlue’s transatlantic flights is that they changed their fare structure to require round-trip travel with a Saturday night stay. JetBlue upended the domestic market when they launched with one-way fares that didn’t have those restrictions. But the JetBlue of old isn’t today’s JetBlue and they are no longer looking to disrupt as they once did.

Sadly, Emirates has cut ties with JetBlue, and that was the best way to book Jetblue MINT class, so that will leave hybrid points as the way to redeem points for that experience.

For example a flight from JFK to Amsterdam on October 15-24 is $479 in Basic Economy, $649 in standard economy, or $1,898 in MINT business class suites.

A flight from Amsterdam to JFK on October 16-24 is $431 in Basic Economy, $563 in standard economy, or $1421 in MINT business class suites.

The Basic Economy fare includes a free personal item and a free carryon bag, but no free checked bag or free changes. If you have a JetBlue Plus/Business card you’ll also get a free checked bag, otherwise that will cost $65 each way. Changes cost $200.

JetBlue will fly their new A321LRs on the route with Mint suites. Live TV and free Wi-Fi will be available for all customers. You can read more about the plane and MINT suites in this post.
